It is estimated that the total import and export turnover of goods of Vietnam in the first 10 months of 2026 reached 1,016 billion USD.
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), it is estimated that Vietnam's total import and export turnover of goods in the first 10 months of 2026 reached 1,016.6 billion USD, an increase of 32.3% compared to the same period in 2025, officially exceeding the 1,000 billion USD mark. In October alone, import and export turnover is estimated at 122.2 billion USD, an increase of 47.6% compared to the same period last year.
Notably, exports continued to grow strongly, with an estimated turnover of 499 billion USD in 10 months, an increase of 27.4%, creating positive momentum to achieve and exceed the export growth target of 15-16% for the whole year 2026.
Export growth takes place in both the domestic economic sector and the foreign-invested sector (FDI), in which the processed industrial goods group continues to play a key role, accounting for 87.4% of total export turnover. Exports also recorded positive growth in many major markets such as China, the United States, the EU, South Korea and ASEAN.
Regarding the trade balance, October is estimated to have a trade surplus of 6.8 billion USD, marking the second consecutive month of trade surplus, bringing the accumulated trade deficit for 10 months down to about 12.7 billion USD. This result shows that import and export activities continue to maintain positive growth momentum, affirming the important role of commodity trade in economic growth.
In the fourth quarter, the Ministry of Industry and Trade determined to promote exports, diversify markets and improve compliance capacity. In which, focus on effectively exploiting signed Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), expanding new markets; improving early warning capacity on trade remedies, tariff barriers, green standards, traceability and origin regulations.
At the same time, support businesses to improve product quality, build brands and transparent supply chains. Promote official exports, expand agreements/protocols on agricultural quarantine; strengthen investment in cold logistics infrastructure and standardize growing areas and packaging facilities to meet the regulations of each partner market.
According to the Import-Export Department, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is developing a Draft Strategy for import and export of goods to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
