From trade union meals to 516 initiatives making nearly 49 billion VND in profit

Listening to help workers become more attached
At Lao Cai Province Water Supply Joint Stock Company, the companionship of the trade union organization is not only shown in times of care or when union members encounter difficulties, but also starts from everyday stories at work.
With the specific nature of operating the water supply system, the work of workers is associated with technical requirements, service quality and responsibility to ensure water sources to serve people. In that environment, arising problems are always promptly discussed to find appropriate solutions.
Mr. Le Van Mat - Deputy General Director, Chairman of the grassroots trade union of Lao Cai Province Water Supply Joint Stock Company assessed that the trade union organization always accompanies regularly, is close to union members, and grasps thoughts and aspirations right from the grassroots level.
When workers are listened to, legitimate rights are concerned, trust and consensus at the workplace will be strengthened. This is also a condition to build harmonious labor relations, limiting disagreements that may affect production and business activities.
That approach is being focused on and implemented by Lao Cai Provincial Trade Union levels. In the third quarter of 2026, the whole province organized 71 contact and dialogue conferences, attracting 4,516 participants, recording 320 opinions and recommendations.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Nhiem - Chairwoman of the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation said that trade union levels continue to direct activities to the grassroots level, taking the legitimate needs and aspirations of union members and workers as the focus. The Trade Union proactively coordinates with employers to build a democratic, respectful and responsible working environment.
According to Ms. Nhiem, dialogue must go hand in hand with action, and recommendations need to be monitored and resolved to the end. Through this, trade unions not only better protect the rights of workers but also contribute to preventing conflicts and improving the quality of collective bargaining.
Taking care of everything from meals, shelters to difficult times
In the third quarter of 2026, the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation supported 165 union members with dangerous diseases and occupational diseases with a total budget of 242 million VND.
On the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the "Trade Union Meal" program was organized in 68 units, with 6,358 turns of union members and workers participating; total budget of more than 615.6 million VND.
The common meal not only contributes to improving the quality of meals but also creates opportunities for workers, trade union officials and business representatives to meet and share. In that close atmosphere, the distance between managers and workers has more opportunities to be narrowed, and the cohesion in the collective is strengthened.
Care and companionship not only help workers stabilize their lives but also create a foundation for them to develop their abilities and contribute more to the business.
At Lao Cai Province Water Supply Joint Stock Company, Mr. Phung Ngoc Minh - Trade Union member, Head of Technical - Materials Department is one of the people with many technical improvement solutions originating from practical operation.
In his work, he participated in building initiatives such as renovating the Lamella tank washing water collection system, water pipes at the Coc San Water Plant; optimizing the forming, quantitative pumping, and alum injection and mixing systems at the treatment area.
These are all items directly related to the operation of the water supply system. Technical review and adjustment not only requires professional knowledge but also proactive observation, detection of inadequacies and finding solutions suitable to actual conditions.
From initiatives at the grassroots level to emulation movements throughout the province, the creativity of workers is being promoted. By October 2026, Lao Cai Trade Union recorded 516 initiatives from the grassroots level and above, with a total benefit value of nearly 48.69 billion VND.
When workers are given conditions to promote their expertise, encourage them to propose ideas and receive worthy recognition, the emulation movement will not only stop at launching but can create specific value for production and business activities.
