Digital transformation brings Trade Unions closer to workers
Trade unions of communes and wards in Hanoi apply digital technology to innovate operations, helping union members and workers access information and benefits more conveniently.
1 QR code - 3 utilities
Trade union levels promote digital transformation in a practical direction, meeting the needs of workers. Typically, the "1 QR code - 3 utilities" model of Dong Da Ward Trade Union (Hanoi), helps union members look up documents, policies and trade union activity information just by scanning codes.
The second utility is "Listening to union members speak" - an important shift from waiting for union members to reflect to proactively creating channels for union members to speak out. The third utility is the online registration system for emulation movements, cultural and sports activities and social security programs organized by the Trade Union.
To make the model effective, the Ward Trade Union guides the use, supports older union members, and helps all workers access digital transformation.
And at Yen So Ward Trade Union (Hanoi), welfare for union members is implemented creatively on a digital platform. The Ward Trade Union coordinates with the Ward People's Committee and Mutosi Group Joint Stock Company to organize a digital welfare live broadcast program for union members and workers.
The program is implemented to realize the union member welfare cooperation agreement of the Trade Union organization with businesses, respond to the 100 days of digital transformation peak of Yen So ward, and practically respond to the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods". The program combines care for welfare with digital transformation, helping union members access quality Vietnamese products.
The live broadcast attracted more than 3,000 views, with more than 50 gifts for union members and workers.
Digital Bookshelves and Digital Trade Union Handbooks
In order to improve the effectiveness of propaganda and dissemination of laws, the Cau Giay Ward Trade Union (Hanoi) launched the "Digital Bookcase" model at Tin Phong Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, contributing to innovating trade union activities and helping workers proactively access legal knowledge.
According to the Ward Trade Union, through digital platforms and QR codes, union members and workers can easily look up documents on policies and laws, trade union nghiệp vụ, professional skills, artificial intelligence and health care. Also in the spirit of innovation, Son Dong Commune Trade Union implements the Digital Trade Union Handbook. This is a practical project, helping businesses and grassroots trade unions in Son Dong commune to look up and implement all issues related to trade unions at enterprises.
Human resource training is a key factor
At the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour level, on February 27, 2026, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour issued a Plan to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation in 2026.
The plan aims at synchronous and interconnected digital transformation throughout the trade union system; promoting the application of artificial intelligence, big data, virtual assistants, ensuring information security; and at the same time researching the risks of occupational unsafety arising from technological innovation and digital transformation.
To implement the plan, the VGCL has set out tasks and solutions such as researching and promulgating regulations to encourage and unlock the potential and gather the intelligence of cadres and trade union members in scientific research, technology, innovation and digital transformation.
Organize the implementation on schedule, ensuring the quality of contents according to Plan No. 37/KH-TLĐ dated October 21, 2025 of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour on organizing the implementation of the Project on digital transformation in trade union activities of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour to 2026, vision to 2030.
The VGCL identifies human resource training as a key factor, focusing on improving digital skills for trade union officials, union members, and workers through online courses and training cooperation with businesses and organizations.
