Vietnam is ready to support Laos in renovation and international integration

On the afternoon of October 14, General Secretary and President To Lam received General Khamliang Outhakaysone, Member of the Politburo of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense of Laos on the occasion of his official visit to Vietnam, attending the 10th Annual Meeting between Ministers of National Defense of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia and witnessing the 5th Joint Exercise on Civil Defense between the Armies of the 3 countries.

General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam always give the highest priority to Vietnam-Laos relations, and are ready to share experiences and support Laos in the renovation and international integration.

Highly appreciating the results of cooperation between the Ministries of National Defense and the Armies of the two countries in the past time, General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that defense and security cooperation is one of the important pillars; requested the two sides to continue to consolidate political trust at the strategic level; maintain the effectiveness of visits, contacts, and defense dialogues at all levels and effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms; strengthen coordination between agencies, units, military regions, branches and armed forces of the two countries.

General Secretary and President To Lam also affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam support strengthening national defense solidarity and cooperation between the three countries Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia; assessed that the annual meeting between the Ministers of National Defense of the three countries and the Joint Exercise on Civil Defense are of practical significance in building trust, improving coordination and response to common challenges.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Laos Khamliang Outhakaysone announced some highlights about the situation in Laos, especially the implementation of the Resolution of the 12th Party Congress; and expressed gratitude for the great, timely and effective support and assistance that Vietnam has given to Laos from the past to the present.

General Khamliang Outhakaysone affirmed that no matter how the world and regional situation develops, the Party, State, Army and people of Laos will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the Party, State, Army and people of Vietnam, together preserving and nurturing the special relationship between the two countries to be forever green and eternally sustainable.

Reporting on the purpose of the visit and the results of cooperation between the two Ministries of National Defense in the past time, General Khamliang Outhakaysone affirmed that he will closely coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam to effectively implement high-level agreements between the two countries and agreements between the two Ministries, continue to promote the good tradition of cooperation between the two armies, contribute to consolidating the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, ensuring peace and promoting the development of the two countries.

General Secretary and President To Lam thanked the Party, State, Army and people of Laos for always coordinating, helping, and creating favorable conditions for the search, repatriation, and identification of remains of Vietnamese martyrs in Laos, making important contributions to the "Operation 500 Days and Nights" launched by the Vietnamese Government.

The General Secretary and President also requested the two Ministries of National Defense to coordinate in preparing and organizing well activities within the framework of "Year of Solidarity and Friendship 2027" to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, contributing to educating traditions, arousing pride and deepening solidarity between people, especially the young generations of the two countries.

On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam sent his warm regards and best wishes to Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and senior Lao leaders.
