Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) said that it has Decision No. 1305/QD-EVN dated October 30, 2026 on adjusting the average retail electricity price.
Accordingly, the average retail electricity price is 2,159,9037 VND/kWh (excluding value-added tax) applied from November 1, 2020. This adjustment level is equivalent to a 2% reduction compared to the current average retail electricity price.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has also issued Decision No. 2892/QD-BCT dated October 31, 2026 regulating electricity selling prices, which promulgates retail electricity prices for groups of electricity users and retail electricity prices for electricity retailers applied from November 1, 2020.
In the afternoon of October 31, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang, on behalf of the Government, explained and clarified 3 major issues in the fields of economy, finance and budget raised by National Assembly deputies.
In which, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the Government is directing EVN to urgently review and minimize costs to reduce retail electricity prices by about 2% from now until March 31, 2027.
The Government will continue to implement solutions on fiscal policy, monetary policy and price management; effectively implement appropriate policies on exemption, reduction, and extension of taxes, fees, and charges.
Dr. Nguyen Xuan Quang - Institute of Energy Technology (Hanoi University of Science and Technology) said that the Government's direction to reduce electricity prices is meaningful in terms of economy, social security and energy policy management in accordance with general economic development conditions.
For businesses, it is possible to save a part of input costs and improve profit margins. Businesses can take advantage of the costs saved from this price reduction to reinvest in energy auditing, heat system renovation and factory operation optimization.
For households, reducing electricity prices helps reduce a part of essential spending, especially for families with high electricity consumption.
From a macro management perspective, reducing electricity prices can also contribute to limiting cost pressure on production, services and commodity prices.
