Permanent Secretary of the Lao Secretariat begins official visit to Vietnam
The visit of the Permanent Secretary of the Lao Secretariat continues the delegation exchanges and high-level contacts between the two countries in the past time.
On the afternoon of October 14, Politburo Member, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee Vilay Lakhamfong and the Lao high-level delegation arrived in Hanoi, beginning an official visit to Vietnam from October 14-16, at the invitation of Politburo Member, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Tran Cam Tu.
Welcoming the delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were Member of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Hai Ninh; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Thi Hoang Van.
Participating in the Lao high-level delegation were Politburo members: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Organization Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Sisay Leudetmounsone; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Office of the Party Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Phet Phomphiphak; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Lao People's Army Vongsone Inpanphim; and Party Central Committee members: Head of the Central Committee for Foreign Affairs Bounleua Phandanouvong; Deputy Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee, Deputy State Inspector General and Deputy Head of the Central Anti-Corruption Commission Pingkham Lasasima.

Previously, in April 2026, Politburo Member, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu paid an official visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic at the invitation of Politburo Member, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee Vilay Lakhamfong.
The relationship between the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam is a political foundation, strategic orientation and decisive factor for the development of Vietnam-Laos relations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the context of the world and regional situation developing rapidly and complicatedly, consolidating political relations, improving the effectiveness of substantive cooperation and strengthening strategic linkages between the two Parties is of particular importance.
This is the basis for continuing to develop Vietnam-Laos relations according to the motto "great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, strategic cohesion", meeting the development requirements of each country in the new period, for the practical benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability and development in the region.
