The Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation established 6 industrial park trade unions to focus on focal points and improve the efficiency of care for workers.

On the morning of October 12, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation organized a conference to announce the decision to establish 6 industrial park trade unions.

Mr. Le Anh Khoa - Standing Deputy Head of the Organization - Inspection Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation said that after arranging provincial-level administrative units, the area of export processing zones, industrial parks and high-tech parks in Ho Chi Minh City currently has 4,460 enterprises with nearly 970,700 workers. Of which, there are 2,692 grassroots trade unions and 809,735 union members, accounting for about one-third of the total number of trade union members in Ho Chi Minh City.

In the period after July 1, 2025, work groups managing the area directly under the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation have contributed to maintaining the management and support of grassroots levels. However, this model is transitional and does not have the full authority of a trade union organization. Faced with the reality of a large area and a large number of union members, the establishment of industrial park trade unions has become an urgent requirement to focus on focal points, resources and improve the quality of service for workers.

6 Industrial Zone Trade Unions No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 will be directly led by the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, assigned a number of tasks of upper-level grassroots trade unions, with legal status, seals and separate accounts. This establishment also terminates the operation of 8 regional management task forces and Trade Union management task forces of export processing zones - industrial parks.

The establishment of 6 industrial park trade unions aims to improve the capacity to represent and protect the legitimate rights of workers and build harmonious and progressive labor relations.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Bui Thanh Nhan - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - said that with a vision to 2050, Ho Chi Minh City will develop 105 export processing zones and industrial parks with a total area of more than 49,000 hectares.

The establishment of 6 Industrial Park Trade Unions clearly demonstrates the requirement to continue to consolidate the trade union organization in a streamlined, professional, efficient, effective, and efficient direction; and at the same time consolidate the trade union organization in industrial parks, export processing zones, high-tech zones and areas with a large concentration of workers. This is not only a change in the organizational model, but also a shift in management thinking, methods of gathering union members and ways to serve union members and workers appropriately in the new situation.

This creates conditions to strengthen the presence of Trade Unions in industrial parks; proactively grasp the situation of businesses, jobs, wages, income, working conditions and the thoughts of workers; improve the quality of dialogue, collective bargaining, supervision of the implementation of labor laws, occupational safety and health; and at the same time develop union members, establish grassroots trade unions and build a team of trade union officials on the spot. The most important thing here is to create substantive changes in operational efficiency.
