Da Nang - Applying technology to help grassroots trade unions promptly listen, care for and protect the practical rights of female union members.

At Fujikura Automotive Vietnam Co., Ltd., most of the labor is female and works directly on the production line. Due to the specific nature of working in shifts, production pressure and the burden of taking care of families after work, mobilizing women to participate in prolonged centralized activities faces many obstacles.

Ms. Le Thi Nghia, Head of the Women's Committee of the grassroots Trade Union of Fujikura Automotive Vietnam Co., Ltd. said: "Previously, women's activities were mainly implemented one-way in writing,'the trade union notified - union members participated', so women were very passive. To remove this barrier, the unit has converted information into short videos and visual images posted on an internal platform; and used online survey forms for women to choose the content they are interested in such as health advice, family skills or legal knowledge before organizing.

Along with innovating communication forms, the work of protecting the legitimate rights of female workers through digital data is also focused on by units.

Ms. Pham Thi Tuong Vi, Chairwoman of the Grassroots Trade Union of Mabuchi Motor Da Nang Co., Ltd., said that the company's Mass Women's Committee has completely shifted from manually recording petitions to collecting data through digital channels and classifying them according to specific problem groups.

The opinions of female union members sent via online forms are clearly classified into groups: income, working hours, working conditions, maternity, social insurance and childcare. This data helps the Trade Union Executive Committee immediately identify priority contents for dialogue with the board of directors, and promptly resolve difficulties for women. All reflected information is guaranteed absolute confidentiality," Ms. Pham Thi Tuong Vi emphasized.

Also according to the Chairman of the Grassroots Trade Union of Mabuchi Motor Da Nang Co., Ltd., the application of technology is not aimed at chasing after the number of movements but takes the effectiveness of workers' enjoyment as a measure. After each program, the trade union issues online evaluation forms to measure the level of satisfaction and the number of recommendations that have been handled in practice by businesses, thereby adjusting the method of caring more closely.

According to Mr. Le Van Dai, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation, female union members account for more than 60% of the total 243,000 union members in the whole city, present in most industries and fields that make important contributions to the socio-economic development of the city.

Therefore, reality requires women's work to strongly shift from organizing movements to advising on policies, dialogue, negotiation and in-depth care. Trade union levels need to apply digital technology to grasp the thoughts, protect the safety of female union members in cyberspace and promptly support the legitimate rights of workers.
