From the reality of retail gasoline and oil, Mr. Vu Van Hung shows the role of workers in digital transformation and the need to be trained to master technology.

Changes from each sales transaction

After 16 years of working, Mr. Vu Van Hung - a retail gasoline and oil worker, Head of Store 84, Petrolimex Hanoi Co., Ltd. - witnessed many changes in his work. From collecting money, manually comparing books, the worker gradually approached non-cash payments, electronic invoices and sales data management.

For Mr. Hung, digital transformation is immediately shown in each transaction, customer service operation. Employees both use technology and detect problems, and propose to complete the process so that digital solutions are effective.

Sharing at the seminar "Workers and Innovation", Mr. Hung said that compared to a few years ago, the job at the store has changed quite a lot. Previously, workers mainly sold goods directly, collected money and compared books manually. Currently, technology is applied from payment, invoice issuance to sales data management.

The effectiveness he sees most clearly is that the work is more transparent, customers have more payment options, and invoices are issued faster. Workers also reduce many manual operations.

I think digital transformation does not change the nature of customer service work, but helps us work more professionally" - Mr. Hung shared.

A specific example is taking invoices. Previously, customers often had to go to the counter to write invoices. When Petrolimex put into use the DX8000 POS and new sales equipment, customers could enter the business code right at the POS and receive invoices via email.

According to Mr. Hung, this change helps improve sales speed, increase output and make the service process more professional. The application of technology is therefore directly related to the actual requirements at the store.

As a core factor in implementing digital transformation at Store 84, he directly participates in piloting many programs of the group such as cashless payment, PLX ID, electronic invoices, nationwide sales, orders through applications and new generation payment devices.

In the process of implementation, he proactively discovered and proposed to improve the process, handle nghiệp vụ obstacles, and contribute to deploying digital solutions before replicating them throughout the system. He also guided and supported colleagues and customers to access digital platforms.

Technology reduces operations, increases adaptability requirements

Current advantages are formed through a process of learning and adapting. Mr. Hung admitted that when it was first deployed, he felt pressure mixed with excitement. Workers must remember the new process, monitor data from the pump column, process many payment methods and check electronic invoices. A wrong or slow operation can affect the entire transaction.

After getting used to the process, he realized that interconnected data helps reduce many manual steps, limit confusion when comparing. Payment is more convenient, and the work is simpler and more transparent.

However, the pressure does not disappear completely but shifts to requirements for speed, accuracy and system processing capabilities. Especially during peak hours, workers have to both serve customers and ensure that data and invoices match.

From his experience, Mr. Hung believes that the biggest difficulty when workers access new technology is the lack of knowledge and skills to use it. Once familiarized, technology makes work lighter, safer and more productive.

Accompanying workers to master technology

As Petrolimex continues to digitally transform, automate and apply technology, what Mr. Hung wants most is for the business to accompany and help workers adapt. Training needs to help workers use technology and have skills suitable for new jobs, especially those who have worked for many years and are not familiar with digital platforms.

We are not afraid of change, but we hope that in the transition process, workers will still have the opportunity to improve their skills, stabilize their jobs and income" - Mr. Hung expressed.

The story at Store 84 shows the direct role of workers in implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo. When knowledge and technology are transformed into the capacity of each worker, innovation will bring specific efficiency in production and business.

The efforts of Mr. Vu Van Hung are recognized by titles and forms of commendation, including Grassroots Emulation Soldier in 2024, 2025; Certificate of Merit from the Trade Union of Industry and Trade in 2024 and advanced examples in the period 2020-2025 of Vietnam National Petroleum Group.
