The will of a welder honored as a Typical Vietnamese Worker
Thanh Hoa - Having gone through many upheavals in life, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Hien is still persistent with the welding profession, constantly innovating and becoming a good worker.
Overcoming pain, persistent with the profession
Born in 1982, growing up in the Truc Lam countryside, Thanh Hoa province, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Hien soon determined that he must have a solid profession to make a living. He chose to learn welding, starting a journey of training from basic operations to jobs requiring high technique and accuracy.
Sharing with PV of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Hien said that his life has gone through many difficulties and upheavals. When his wife left, he took care of his two young children alone, at that time his daughter was only 5 years old, and his son was 3 years old. Both working and shouldering the responsibility of a father, he always tried to make his children have a stable life.
In April 2026, disaster continued to strike when his son unfortunately drowned while swimming in the sea. The great loss made the life of the welder even more difficult. However, he still tried to overcome the pain, stabilize his life and continue to stick with his work.
Talking about his current job, Mr. Hien said that from August 2020, he started to stick with the Dai Dung business system, currently working at Ironing Team 2, Factory NS1 under Dai Dung Nghi Son Mechanical Engineering Joint Stock Company (in Hai Binh ward, Thanh Hoa province).

For him, a quality welding job not only requires skill but also carefulness, a sense of responsibility and awareness of ensuring labor safety.
Not only completing the assigned work, he also proactively supports new workers, guides them on how to read drawings, prepare equipment, adjust details and perform welding operations according to the correct technique. That sharing helps colleagues gradually improve their skills and coordinate more effectively in production.
Initiatives from production practice
During the working process, Mr. Hien realized that manual welding methods often take a lot of time in the stages of mounting, adjusting, changing positions and handling welds that do not meet requirements. If the operating order is unreasonable, the product is easily deviated, and must be repaired, causing waste of materials and affecting production progress.
From that reality, he researched and applied technical improvements according to the motto "Fastest weld, standardest". Before each stage, he chose a convenient working position, arranged the welding order scientifically; checked the squareness, straightness and gaps between details before welding to limit deformation.

He also focuses on adjusting electric current, voltage and welding speed to suit each type of link, and at the same time controlling quality right during the implementation process. When abnormalities are detected, he promptly handles them, avoiding prolonging errors to the final stage.
These improvements help reduce redundant operations, shorten repair time, save materials and improve labor productivity. After applying effectively, Mr. Hien shared his experience with colleagues in the group to jointly implement, contributing to ensuring the production progress of the factory and increasing income for workers.
With unremitting efforts, Mr. Hien was recognized as an excellent worker in two years 2024 and 2025; won the First Prize in the 2025 skills competition and was honored many times for technical innovation initiatives. In 2026, he was honored by the Thanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation as a typical worker.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hai - Chairman of the Trade Union of Dai Dung Nghi Son Mechanical Engineering Joint Stock Company - said that the enterprise currently has 656 officials, workers, and laborers. In that collective, Mr. Hien is a diligent and studious union member, always striving to improve his skills and actively applying technical improvements to production.
Although the circumstances he is going through are somewhat more disadvantaged and difficult than others, however, that does not make him flinch, on the contrary, it makes him more diligent and dedicated to become a family pillar, a bright example in labor and production" - Mr. Hai commented.
With his contributions in production labor, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Hien is honored to be one of the 10 individuals selected to be honored at the 2026 National Excellent Vietnamese Workers Award Ceremony, scheduled to take place on the evening of October 24th in Hanoi.
