Promoting initiatives and determination to contribute to the development of the coal industry

At the program to commend typical Vietnamese workers nationwide in 2026, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters had a sideline exchange with Labor Hero Pham Dinh Duan - Deputy Head of Production Control Department, Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company about the creative journey, initiatives stemming from production practice and determination to continue to contribute to the development of the coal industry.

Congratulations on being honored at the 2026 National Typical Vietnamese Workers Commendation Program. What are your feelings? What is the significance of this event for you and the coal industry miners?

For me, a worker directly involved in production, being honored at such a large program is a deep honor and pride for a coal miner.

The program is of great significance, creating motivation for the team of workers and laborers in the coal industry to continue to strive, promote the spirit of creativity, and come up with many initiatives and technical improvements to improve labor productivity. In particular, in the production process, we always determine to put safety first.

Can you share about a typical technical initiative that has been effectively implemented at the unit?

During my work, every year I research and explore to come up with at least one initiative that can be directly applied to the production site. In 2022, I was honored to be awarded the Creative Labor Certificate by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

This initiative originated from the reality that the 27A mine was about to end. From practical requirements, I came up with the idea of digging a cup to serve ventilation, drainage and transportation. After that, I discussed with engineers and professional departments and divisions to jointly complete the idea into a technical solution.

When put into application, the solution helps the unit reduce one section of the salvage ditch, reduce one section of the kiln that needs to be cut and save one worker, benefiting the company.

After the titles and recognitions achieved, what continues to motivate you to strive and contribute in the future?

Titles and honors are the motivation for me to continue to strive in my work. I always determine to constantly learn, train, research and create more solutions and initiatives to improve new techniques.

My goal is to contribute small efforts to work with the collective of workers and miners to build Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company in particular and the Group in general to develop sustainably; ensure safety for workers, and contribute to the overall development of the country.

From your own practical experience, what do you want to send to the young generation and the current team of young workers?

I want to send a message to young people to be confident, steadfast, maintain their will and work ideals, not afraid of difficulties and hardships.

In production labor, every idea, no matter how small, if researched, perfected and applied to the actual situation, can become an initiative that brings practical benefits to businesses and collectives.
