Aviation engineer with initiative to save 239 billion VND

Mr. Nguyen Ba Vuong was surprised and proud to be nominated by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor as one of the 10 faces expected to be commended as typical Vietnamese workers nationwide in 2026. This is a recognition of his persistent efforts in his work.

Born in 1993, graduated from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Mr. Vuong started working at Vietnam Airlines from December 2016. Currently, he is in charge of program management and aircraft maintenance plans, contributing to ensuring that aircraft are always ready for operation, improving operational efficiency and optimizing maintenance costs.

The work requires close coordination between technical plans and operational needs, calculating aircraft maintenance stopping times to ensure operational efficiency and revenue.

Since the beginning of 2024, the shortage of spare materials has caused the number of aircraft ready for operation to be lower than required. That reality poses an urgent problem: How to shorten the time to stop aircraft for maintenance while still meeting technical requirements, ensuring safety and operational quality? Before that requirement, Mr. Vuong participated in building the initiative "Optimizing the content of the periodic work package to reduce the time to stop aircraft for maintenance for Vietnam Airlines' aircraft fleet". Instead of just looking at maintenance as a separate task of the technical department, the initiative aims for the overall efficiency of the entire operation.

The solution recognized in 2025 has brought significant economic efficiency. According to the provided data, the initiative helps the Corporation save 9,144,170 USD, equivalent to about 239 billion VND, for 54 aircraft leased in the period 2025-2031; the savings level is equivalent to 30,983 USD per month.

Be dedicated to work, taking collective efficiency as a goal

Sharing about the concept of labor and creativity, Mr. Vuong said that each achievement is created from a sense of responsibility, dedication and constant aspiration to rise up. According to him, no matter what position they hold, each person can create practical value if they maintain their passion, proactively improve and persistently overcome difficulties.

Success does not only come from great things, but starts from responsibility, seriousness and small improvements in each person's daily work" - Mr. Vuong shared.

For him, pursuing initiatives is not simply finding a new solution, but also the process of recognizing inadequacies in work, proactively coordinating with colleagues and putting overall efficiency first. The value of creativity is measured by the ability to solve practical problems, creating specific benefits for the business.
