Workers in Phu Tho hope for more utilities at social housing areas
Many workers have stabilized their accommodation at social housing projects. However, besides the need for housing, workers want to be supplemented with essential amenities to improve their quality of life.
Wishing for more essential utilities
Present at the social housing area for workers in Phu Ha Industrial Park, Phu Tho ward, Phu Tho province in October, reporters noted that many workers have moved in. Spacious buildings help workers have stable accommodation and feel secure in their work. However, the system of amenities serving life in this area is still limited, especially educational and medical facilities.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh, a fruit juice seller at Phu Ha social housing area, shared that she moved here to live from the end of 2025. Currently, thousands of people have moved in, leading to an increasing demand for essential services such as sending children and healthcare.
According to Ms. Thanh, adding amenities near the residence will help people more conveniently in daily life, especially families with young children.
Mr. Ha Van Hoang, a worker in Phu Ha Industrial Park, said that owning social housing apartments is the desire of many workers after a long time of hard work.
I bought a social housing apartment here. After many efforts, workers like me have also had a place to settle down and work. However, over time living, I see that more stores and services are needed so that workers can improve their quality of life," Mr. Hoang suggested.
The social housing area for workers in Phu Ha Industrial Park has a total investment of more than 300 billion VND, built on an area of 4.31 hectares, meeting the housing needs of about 1,900 people.
The project includes 48 low-rise commercial houses and 558 social housing apartments belonging to 4 6-story apartment buildings. Of these, 182 apartments are arranged for sale and 376 are for rent.
Promoting social housing development
According to Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, the whole province currently has 23 social housing projects under implementation, with a total scale of about 17,447 apartments. In the period 2021-2025, the province has started construction of 12 social housing and worker housing projects with a scale of 11,952 apartments. To date, about 3,900 apartments have been completed and are eligible for use.
As of September 2026, the whole province has 5,381 apartments in 15 completed projects, eligible for business, an increase of 921 units compared to 2025.
Notably, among the projects started from the beginning of 2026 is the Social Housing Area in Trung Minh A New Urban Area, Hoa Binh Ward, with a scale of 1,289 units. This is the first social housing for rent project in the province, contributing to diversifying housing types, meeting the needs of workers who do not yet have enough conditions to buy houses.
In 2026, Phu Tho sets a target to complete 10,000 social housing units. By 2030, the province strives to complete the development plan of 64,400 units.
Along with the increase in the supply of social housing, the need for essential amenities in housing areas is increasingly concerned by workers. The synchronous development of service systems, from education, healthcare to amenities serving daily life, will contribute to improving the quality of life, helping workers feel secure in working and long-term attachment to the locality.
