Complete wedding of workers after years of making a living

The burden of making a living once made many couples of workers and laborers in Ho Chi Minh City have to put aside their wedding day dreams for many years. The 2026 collective wedding not only brings a complete joyful day, but also is a meaningful encouragement, giving wings to the laboring families to become more stable in the city.

Holding hands with her partner at the 2026 collective wedding, Ms. Ho Thi Huong (40 years old, worker at Pouyuen Vietnam Co., Ltd., Ho Chi Minh City) was moved to tears. Thanks to the joint care of the Trade Union organization and city organizations, the dream of a decent and complete happy day for the couple has just come true after an 18-year journey of overcoming difficulties together, sharing joys and sorrows in the city.

Leaving their hometown of Nghe An to Ho Chi Minh City to make a living, coming to a foreign land, Ms. Huong and her husband, Mr. Le Hai Hung (49 years old, freelance driver), met in 2006. In 2008, they registered their marriage and lived together under one roof. For 18 years of nurturing the family together, their 2 children are now in 11th and 9th grade, but due to difficult circumstances, a complete wedding is still just an unfinished dream.

Ms. Huong emotionally said: "For the sake of the children, for both sides of the family, and for myself, the two of us have overcome all obstacles together to come to this day. I never thought my life would have this moment, it's really so touching. Last night, the two of us were so nervous and excited that we couldn't sleep.

Sharing that emotion are Mr. Huynh Minh Phong (52 years old, freelancer) and Ms. Le Thi Tuoi (46 years old, worker at S4 Fashion Partner Vietnam Co., Ltd.). Living under one roof since 2001 amidst countless deprivations, for the past 25 years, they have diligently worked to raise their 2 children to adulthood. Now, when their children have all grown up, the dream of a complete happy day for the couple has been realized.

Recalling the early days, Mr. Phong confided that in those days, due to difficult circumstances, the two loved each other and moved in together under one roof, worrying about food, clothing and money all year round, so they did not dare to think about organizing a wedding ceremony.

Now that my 2 children have grown up, being supported by the Trade Union organization and units for such a proper wedding, my wife and I are very happy and touched. This is truly the most meaningful day in my life" - Mr. Phong shared.

Ms. Huong and Mr. Phong are 2 of the 52 couples participating in the 2026 collective wedding ceremony, taking place on October 15 in Ho Chi Minh City. They are union members, association members, youth workers, civil servants, teachers and workers in difficult circumstances living and working in the city.

2026 marks the first time the Standing Committee of the City Labor Federation, the Standing Committee of the City Women's Union and the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union have coordinated to organize a collective wedding program, with the implementing unit being the City Youth Workers Support Center.

Over the years, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has always paid special attention to the material and spiritual life of union members and workers.

Collective weddings are one of the activities that clearly express that spirit.
