From manual operations to AI-applied automatic cutting machines

At An Phu Footwear Import-Export Co., Ltd. (A Sao commune, Hung Yen province), the application of modern technology in production is bringing clear efficiency, contributing to improving labor productivity and saving costs for businesses.

Previously, the stage of cutting and tapping the product border was mainly done manually. Workers had to use molds to print each piece or use knives to cut, causing productivity to be limited. On average, each worker only completes about 5,000 pairs of products per day.

From the inadequacies in the working process, a group of 3-5 workers at the workshop actively learned about advanced technology models on the internet. After researching, realizing that automatic equipment could be suitable for the existing production line, the group proposed that the business leadership invest in technological innovation.

Since 2023, automatic cutting systems integrating programming software and artificial intelligence (AI) technology have been put into operation, replacing the previous manual cutting method.

According to records at the workshop, with the new equipment, the software allows arranging and processing many product details simultaneously on the same cutting table surface, instead of having to perform each piece as before. Thanks to that, the production process is shortened, reducing manual operations and limiting workers' labor.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Y - a worker at An Phu Footwear Import-Export Co., Ltd., said that in the past, workers had to use molds to print each product, while machinery can now process many details at the same time thanks to programming software.

According to Mr. Y, changing production methods helps save significant time and effort for workers. Workers no longer have to perform repetitive operations as before, thereby having conditions to focus on operating and controlling the production process.

Currently, productivity at this stage has increased 4-5 times compared to before, reaching about 20,000-25,000 pairs of products per day. The application of technology also helps businesses save raw materials, reduce operating costs, with estimated economic efficiency of about 40 million VND per month.
