Female PhD spreads AI from lecture hall to community
Dr. Duong Thi Thuy Van made her mark with many AI and Chatbot application initiatives, contributing to improving work efficiency and spreading digital transformation to the community.
As Director of the Center for Innovation and Science and Technology Transfer, Head of the Women's Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Grassroots Trade Union of Ton Duc Thang University, Dr. Duong Thi Thuy Van has made a strong impression through 8 outstanding technology initiatives. Among them, many solutions bring value and profits of billions of VND each year for the school such as: Digital technology application model in education quality accreditation (1.426 billion VND/year), Chatbot AI T-CORA virtual assistant (1.448 billion VND/year)...
According to Ms. Van, quality accreditation is a stage that requires a lot of effort due to large training scale, scattered data and easy mistakes in manual review processes. The application of digital technology and AI helps automatically analyze and check the consistency between output standards (PEO, PLO, CLO) and teaching methods, improving accreditation efficiency.
To date, the entire university training program has graduated courses of the school that meet prestigious international accreditation standards (HCÉRES, FIBAA, ASIIN, AUN-QA, AACSB); at the same time, the school meets educational institution accreditation standards according to HCÉRES (2018 - 2023) and FIBAA (2024 - 2030).
Dr. Duong Thi Thuy Van has 5 consecutive years of winning the titles "Grassroots Emulation Soldier" and "Excellent Trade Union Member". She focuses on training, assigning suitable jobs, and applying AI assistants to synthesize information, remind jobs, and manage online records.
At Ton Duc Thang University, Ms. Van organizes 2-4 seminars and lectures each year, attracting about 200 officials each time; and at the same time fostering and supporting female officials to develop their expertise. The AI model developed by her has been tested with nearly 1,000 lecturers and officials, then expanded to 10 universities, many departments, branches, businesses and 20 wards and communes in Ho Chi Minh City.
The program supports ward and commune officials to apply AI to draft documents, summarize documents and respond to people. Ms. Van emphasized the principle of information security, people must check and be responsible for the results. Digital transformation efficiency is measured by the quality of serving people and reducing manual operations for officials.
