Caring for workers from meals to benefits at work

Khánh Linh (báo lao động) 02/10/2026 15:06 (GMT+7)

Signing new collective labor agreements, strengthening dialogue, supporting union members in difficulties... are activities implemented by the Cao Bang Trade Union in the first 9 months of 2026, aiming to improve life and protect the rights of workers.

According to information from the Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) of Cao Bang province, in the first 9 months of the year, trade union levels have newly signed 23 collective labor agreements, bringing the total number of units with agreements to 48. Among them, 5 supplemented clauses to increase the value of meals for workers.

Including the content of improving lunch meals in the agreement creates a basis for trade unions to coordinate with employers to implement and supervise agreed rights. Along with that, grassroots trade unions and grassroots trade unions organized more than 50 meetings and dialogues with union members and workers.

Workers' recommendations focus on employment, income, insurance regimes and working conditions. The Provincial Labor Federation has received and consulted 37 turns of union members and workers by phone and directly; participated in inspection and supervision teams on the implementation of labor laws, policies, salaries, and bonuses at 15 units and businesses.

Visiting and supporting activities when sick are maintained regularly. In 9 months, trade union levels have cared for more than 3,000 people, with a total budget of more than 460 million VND. The "Raising Steps to School" program awarded gifts and scholarships to 207 children of union members and workers, with a total organizational budget of 99.3 million VND.

During Workers' Month, the Provincial Labor Federation supported the construction of 3 new "Trade Union Homes", with a total value of 120 million VND. At the grassroots level, the Trade Union of Cao Bang Construction Material Production Joint Stock Company coordinated to support the construction of 1 new house and repair of 3 houses for workers, with a total budget of 125 million VND. Key construction site support programs in Tra Linh, Ha Lang and Duc Long communes were implemented with a total budget of 103.5 million VND.

Besides the achieved results, the lives of a part of workers are still difficult. The quality of operation of some grassroots trade unions is not uniform; grasping the thoughts and aspirations of union members at times is not timely. The number of full-time officials has decreased after the arrangement of the apparatus, while the scope of management is wide, which also affects the work of sticking to the grassroots level.

Mr. Ha Ngoc Tu - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Chairman of the Cao Bang Provincial Labor Federation - said that the key task in the last months of the year is to closely follow the grassroots level, grasp the employment situation, income and recommendations of union members and workers to promptly coordinate solutions.

Grassroots trade unions need to focus on dialogue and negotiation, incorporate the practical rights of workers into collective labor agreements and supervise implementation. Along with caring for the end of the year and Lunar New Year, trade unions will review union members in housing difficulties and illnesses to have appropriate support plans" - Mr. Tu emphasized.
