Protecting workers from traps in cyberspace
Faced with potential risks in cyberspace, equipping workers (NLĐ) with knowledge, skills to recognize and prevent risks is becoming increasingly necessary, helping workers raise their vigilance against online scams.
In the context of strong digital technology development, social networks and online platforms are becoming increasingly familiar to the lives of workers (CNLĐ). Besides the utilities in communication, study, job search and transactions, cyberspace also contains many risks of information insecurity, fraud and appropriation of property.
Notably, employees can become targets of fraudsters through job recruitment offers for light, high-paying jobs, online sales collaborators, financial investment or borrowing money through applications.
Mr. Vu Hong Minh - Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial Labor Federation - informed that reality shows that in the past time, there have been many cases of workers in the province being scammed and embezzled by bad actors on social networking platforms. Subjects often use tricks such as impersonating police officers, bank employees, social insurance agencies... to request personal information, OTP authentication codes or transfer money to designated accounts. Subjects also use fake links, malicious applications to steal data and take control of accounts.
These forms of fraud pose an urgent requirement to equip workers with knowledge, skills to recognize and prevent risks in cyberspace, especially those who regularly use smartphones for transactions, shopping and job search.
Over the past time, the Ninh Binh Provincial Labor Federation has coordinated with relevant units to organize propaganda sessions on issues related to network security and protecting state secrets for workers. Through propaganda activities, union members and workers are oriented to raise awareness of protecting personal information, using social networks safely and cautiously against requests for money transfer or personal data provision from unverified sources. Union members and workers need to proactively verify information through official channels as important measures to limit the risk of being scammed in cyberspace" - Mr. Minh shared.
Also according to Mr. Minh, along with propaganda on network security, the Provincial Labor Federation is implementing the establishment of the "Digital Trade Union Group" model at affiliated grassroots trade unions. The establishment of the "Digital Trade Union Group" is a specific activity in the process of promoting digital transformation in trade union activities.
This is also the basis for strengthening the application of technology in trade union activities, creating more channels for connecting and exchanging information between union members and workers with the Trade Union organization.
