Tan Hung Ward Trade Union, Ho Chi Minh City, awarded decisions to establish 17 grassroots trade unions, improving the effectiveness of caring for workers.
On October 9th, the Tan Hung Ward Trade Union organized a ceremony to award decisions to establish 17 grassroots trade unions (CĐCS) in the area in the month.
Providing information at the event, Mr. Khuu Thien Thanh - Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Hung Ward, Chairman of the Ward Trade Union, said that from the beginning of the year to now, the unit has newly established 94 grassroots trade unions and developed 2,683 union members. Thereby, raising the total number of models in the whole ward to 477 grassroots trade unions with 17,325 union members. This result proves the efforts to expand the organization, and at the same time poses increasingly high requirements for the quality of practical activities at the grassroots level.

Emphasizing the orientation of activities, Mr. Khuu Thien Thanh affirmed that the establishment of a trade union is already difficult, but to organize and operate effectively, to be trusted by employees and accompanied by businesses, it is even more important. The value of a trade union organization does not only lie in the number of members, but must be shown by specific actions, by sharing when employees face difficulties and by a responsible voice when the legitimate rights of members need to be protected.

Ms. Phan Thi Truyen, representative of the grassroots trade union of Nam Loi Phat Co., Ltd. shared that the establishment of the grassroots trade union creates favorable conditions to better care for workers. As soon as the mobilization was implemented, the unit had 43/50 workers agreeing to join the organization. With the remaining workers, the grassroots trade union will continue to propagate through activities to care for real life so that workers can see the practical benefits.

To quickly put 17 new grassroots trade unions into order, the Chairman of Tan Hung Ward Trade Union proposed that the Executive Committees urgently stabilize the organization, build operating regulations, clearly assign tasks and master professional skills. In addition, trade union officials must always be close to and listen to the thoughts of workers; proactively coordinate with business owners to build harmonious and progressive labor relations. The development of new union members must go hand in hand with improving the quality of life, gradually building grassroots trade unions to truly be a warm common home for workers.
On the occasion of the upcoming Vietnamese Women's Day October 20th, Tan Hung Ward Trade Union also disseminated to grassroots trade unions the plan to implement many activities to care for female union members. Practical playgrounds such as flower arranging contests, cooking, cultural exchange and karaoke will be organized right at the enterprise, creating a relaxing space and strengthening solidarity for female workers after working hours.
