Ho Chi Minh City supports 100% of health insurance contributions for voluntary blood donors
Ho Chi Minh City - From October 1, 2026, eligible voluntary blood donors will be 100% supported by the state budget for health insurance (HI) contributions.
According to information from Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance, the policy applies to voluntary blood donors who are permanently or temporarily residing in the city, have donated blood 20 times or more and have donated voluntary blood at least 2 times in Ho Chi Minh City in the year of consideration for support. People eligible for support do not have health insurance cards at the time of consideration.
For subsequent supports, people who have been issued health insurance cards under this policy need to continue voluntary blood donation from 2 times/year or more in Ho Chi Minh City to receive budget support.
The state budget supports the entire health insurance premium, and people do not have to pay for card purchases. The issued health insurance card is valid for 12 months for each support.
People who meet the conditions can contact the Ho Chi Minh City Humanitarian Blood Donation Center to review data and be guided to register for health insurance cards.
The policy aims to recognize and encourage those who actively donate blood to save people, and at the same time contribute to ensuring health care rights for voluntary blood donors in the city.
