As the country develops, those who have made many sacrifices must be better cared for
General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that when the country develops, those who have suffered many sacrifices must be better cared for.
On the afternoon of October 27, in Hanoi, General Secretary and President To Lam met with the Truong Son Female Driver Company, towards the 58th Anniversary of the Unit's Traditional Day (December 18, 1968 - December 18, 2026).
At the meeting, Head of the Liaison Committee of the Truong Son Female Driver Company Nguyen Thi Hoa reported on the tradition of the Truong Son Female Driver Company, a Hero of the People's Armed Forces. On December 18, 1968, the Female Driver Platoon, the predecessor of the Truong Son Female Driver Company, was born. From the youth volunteer force and soldiers, they were selected and quickly trained to undertake very difficult tasks.
At the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam stated clearly that the Party, State and people always remember the merits of those who have contributed to the Fatherland. The sisters have sacrificed their youth for the country. Therefore, we have a responsibility to take care of them so that they can live happily, receive timely medical treatment, be supported in difficult times and be listened to.

Recognizing the Ministry of National Defense's concern in organizing meetings and directing support for the women, the General Secretary and President requested that the directed tasks need to be checked for implementation results, and the remaining difficulties must continue to be resolved; assigning the Ministry of National Defense to preside over and coordinate with localities and the Liaison Committee to review the circumstances, implementation of regimes, policies and support needs of each woman.
In 2026, it is necessary to complete the review and fully resolve regimes and policies for cases that meet the conditions according to regulations. Outstanding dossiers must be proactively guided and coordinated for verification; cases exceeding authority must be promptly reported and proposed handling directions; it is necessary to clearly identify the responsible focal point, fully inform the results and progress of resolution for each woman, and not let women have to travel and submit dossiers and documents many times due to lack of coordination from agencies.
The General Secretary and President requested that the Ministry of National Defense direct military medical facilities to coordinate with local health authorities to grasp the health status, organize examinations, treatment, nursing and rehabilitation suitable for each woman; have specific support measures for women with weakness and difficulty walking; need to pay attention to daily care and spiritual life, especially for women living alone and without stable income. Care must be maintained regularly and promptly supported when their health and circumstances change, so that they can feel secure in life.
Party committees and authorities where the sisters reside must firmly grasp cases of housing and living difficulties to resolve according to policies and mobilize appropriate help. The Fatherland Front, Veterans Association, Women's Union and agencies and units continue to accompany the Liaison Committee, regularly visit and promptly help weak and difficult comrades. Officials assigned tasks must do it with dedication, considering the sisters' difficulties as something they are responsible for removing.
The General Secretary and President assigned the Ministry of National Defense to coordinate with localities to support the Liaison Committee in maintaining annual traditional meetings; pay attention to travel; organization needs to be thoughtful and economical. Assigned tasks must be monitored to the results and the Ministry of National Defense summarizes and reports on implementation results.
Sincerely thanking the families, agencies, and units for taking care of and helping the women over the years, the General Secretary and President hoped that this companionship would continue to be regular and persistent; emphasizing that caring for people with meritorious services is the morality and political responsibility of the Party and State. The country is developing, and those who have suffered many sacrifices must be better cared for. The achievements of development need to be shown in the lives of the women themselves and each family with meritorious services to the country.
