Grassroots trade unions diversify activities to care for union members at FDI enterprises

On October 27, the Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation said that the grassroots Trade Union of Nam Ha Vietnam Footwear Co., Ltd. is a bright spot in practically caring for union members and workers.

The company has foreign direct investment (FDI), with more than 3,800 union members and employees, located in Nam Ha Industrial Cluster, Tra Tan commune, Lam Dong province.

Mr. Le Trong Thai, Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union, said that the unit focuses on caring for the material and spiritual life of workers with many practical activities.

The Trade Union organizes many healthy sports playgrounds such as cross-country races, badminton, mini football, creating conditions for workers to practice health, socialize and increase the connection between departments.

Trade Union meals are practical care activities, organized right at the workplace with improved meal quality. The program contributes to creating a close atmosphere between workers, trade union organizations and businesses.

For union members in difficult circumstances, the grassroots trade union gives gifts to support, share difficulties, and encourage workers to stabilize their lives and feel secure in their work.

Cultural activities are also organized diversely. The "Multi-talented Women" contest on International Women's Day March 8th and the cooking contest to celebrate Vietnamese Women's Day October 20th create opportunities for union members to show their ingenuity and creativity, while strengthening exchanges and solidarity.

In addition to caring for life, the grassroots Trade Union coordinates to propagate labor regulations, company regulations and knowledge of occupational safety and health. Mr. Thai also participates with businesses in building, amending, and supplementing collective labor agreements with many clauses that are more beneficial to workers than current regulations.

According to him, although the domestic production and business situation has many fluctuations, the company still ensures stable income for employees, and at the same time pays attention to supporting workers in difficult circumstances and organizing sports and cultural activities.

Combining material care with improving spiritual life helps trade union activities to be closer to the needs of union members. Through this, workers have more opportunities to exchange, practice health and feel the concern of the trade union organization.

These activities contribute to strengthening the trust of union members, increasing attachment to businesses, towards building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations.
