Lao Cai - After nearly 5 hours of searching, functional forces found 3 students in a shack in the fields, more than 1km from their house.

On October 20th, information from Pha Long Commune Police, Lao Cai province, the unit has just coordinated with functional forces and people to find 3 students who got lost at night and handed them over safely to their families.

Previously, at about 6:45 pm on October 19, Pha Long Commune Police received information from teachers of Ta Gia Khau Ethnic Minority Boarding Primary and Secondary School about 3 students in the area losing contact and their whereabouts unknown.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Commune Police mobilized 12 officers and soldiers, coordinated with 8 members of the force to participate in protecting security and order at the grassroots level, the Commune Military Command, teachers and local people. A total of more than 50 people participated in the search.

The three students include twin brothers L.Q. V, L.Q. N (both born on October 11, 2019) and niece M.T. Q (born on July 25, 2019). All three have permanent residence registration in Pac Ta village, Pha Long commune.

The forces organized a search of the area around the residence, fields, camps and places where the children could go.

At about 11:50 PM on the same day, after nearly 5 hours of continuous searching, Pha Long Commune Police found all three children sitting in a shack on a people's field, more than 1km from their house. Through initial inspection, the children were all safe.

According to initial information, after school, the children returned home and played together. Because their parents went to work as hired laborers in China, the children stayed at home with their paternal grandparents. While playing, the sky turned dark quickly, causing the children to not find their way home, so they went to the shack on the fields to wait.

At about 0:25 on October 20, Pha Long Commune Police took all three children to hand over to their families, in the presence of local authorities and people.

Through the incident, Pha Long Commune Police recommends that families strengthen the management and supervision of young children, especially children of primary school age; do not let children arbitrarily go out to play far or to fields, hills and mountains without adults accompanying them.

For families whose parents are working far away, the person directly taking care of the children needs to pay attention to managing, picking up and dropping off and ensuring safety for the children, especially in the late afternoon and evening.

Schools and parents need to coordinate to grasp the situation of students after school hours, promptly notify families and functional forces when detecting abnormal absences or signs of stray children.
