Young people proactively learn a trade to get a job soon

No longer considering vocational training as a secondary option, more and more young people actively choose this path to soon acquire skills and find suitable jobs.

Proactively choosing vocational training from market demand

Changes in awareness of vocational training are clearly shown through the choices of many students after graduating from secondary and high school. Instead of just focusing on the path of university, many young people consider their abilities, interests, family conditions and labor market needs to choose a suitable career.

Student Luu Tan Phuoc (Automotive Technology major, Can Tho Vocational College) said that he chose to learn a trade because it is suitable for his ability, family conditions and he wants to soon have a stable job.

Before registering, I researched the labor market and found that the Automotive Technology industry has many job opportunities. The school also supports connection and job introduction after graduation, so I am even more assured of my choice" - Tan Phuoc shared.

Also choosing vocational training, student Ngo Nhat Ky (Mechatronics major, Can Tho Vocational College) said that he decided to study this major because he found many job opportunities at large enterprises. This decision was made by the male student after learning about recruitment needs and consulting information from some businesses.

Through the learning process, I realized that the school's training method combining theory and practice is quite suitable. After studying theory, students are immediately practiced, so it is easy to understand, quickly grasp knowledge and have conditions to apply it in practice. This is also a factor to help learners consolidate vocational skills and better prepare for work after graduation," Nhat Ky shared.

Changing perceptions about vocational training

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Cao Thi Hong Tho - Vice Principal of Can Tho Vocational College - said that in the 2026-2027 school year, the school enrolled 100% of the target. This result partly shows that parents and candidates' awareness of choosing vocational training has had positive changes in recent years.

According to Ms. Tho, one of the factors contributing to changing perceptions is the employment rate of students after graduation of the school reaching about 88-90%. Notably, knowledge and vocational skills not only serve work but also have practical applications in daily life.

In addition, young people today tend to consider more carefully the suitability between the major and the abilities, interests and needs of the labor market.

In the context that businesses need skilled workers, vocational training becomes an option to help learners access real jobs early. Right during the training process, many businesses have come to schools to advise and introduce recruitment needs, thereby helping students have more information and career orientation," Ms. Tho said.

Reality shows that choosing vocational training does not mean closing up learning opportunities at higher levels. After graduating from college level, learners, if they have aspirations and meet the conditions, can still continue to study to university. This is a direction to help learners both accumulate vocational skills and have the opportunity to improve their professional qualifications.

Currently, Can Tho Vocational College is linked with a number of domestic universities to create conditions for students to study continuing education to suitable majors. The school also has links with educational institutions abroad, opening up more learning opportunities for learners.

Vocational education is gradually affirming its role in providing skilled human resources. With a training program linking business needs and open job opportunities, vocational training is increasingly becoming a proactive choice for young people.
