General Secretary, President awards the title of Hero to Military Region 2

Presenting the commemorative speech, Lieutenant General Tran Van Bac, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Commander of Military Region 2, said that on October 19, 1946, the Armed Forces of War Zone 10 - the predecessor of the Armed Forces of Military Region 2 was established.

Over 80 years, the Armed Forces of Military Region 2 have continuously grown and matured, overcome all difficulties and challenges, made resounding feats of arms, and excellently completed all tasks assigned by the Party, the Fatherland, and the people.

Speaking to direct at the Anniversary Ceremony, General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that the Northwest is a land rich in patriotic and revolutionary traditions, with a strategically important position on the North and Northwest directions of the Fatherland.

General Secretary and President requested the Party Committee, the Command of Military Region 2 and all officers and soldiers to focus on performing key tasks.

The unit must firmly grasp the situation, proactively advise, maintain the initiative to protect the Fatherland in all situations; thoroughly grasp the Party's military and defense guidelines, the Fatherland Protection Strategy in the new situation; concretize closely to the characteristics of the military region.

The General Secretary and President also advised cadres and soldiers to be closely attached to the people, build a people's heart battleground from the peace and life of the people, and do a good job of mass mobilization with respect, sincerity and practical actions.

The Party Committee and the Military Region Command need to concretize the tasks into action programs; choose the right key tasks, breakthroughs, clearly assign responsibilities, and regularly check the results.

Party committees and local authorities continue to coordinate and take care of building the armed forces, well implement the military rear policy, and work with the Military Region to solve problems raised from the grassroots level.

General Secretary and President emphasized ensuring good logistics and techniques, taking care of soldiers, implementing military rear policies with responsibility and affection, taking care of every meal, sleep, health, living conditions and spiritual life of soldiers.

Comrades working far away, in difficult conditions, and families in distress must be cared for and supported promptly to feel secure in performing their duties; continue to care for people with meritorious services, families of martyrs, wounded soldiers, and sick soldiers, and well implement the military rear policy.

The unit needs to focus on effectively implementing the Campaign "500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains".

The Military Region closely coordinates with localities, agencies and friendly countries; exploits documents and information from witnesses, applies appropriate science and technology, ensuring accuracy and safety.

The Military Region effectively implements defense foreign affairs, contributing to building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

The General Secretary and President clearly stated that each foreign affairs activity must have practical content and specific results, contributing to strengthening understanding and trust.

Cadres and soldiers on foreign affairs duty must be steadfast in their bravery, firmly grasp principles, have standard working styles, and maintain the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers.

Friendship needs to be cultivated with sincerity, loyalty and responsibility; sovereignty must be maintained with steadfast will, alertness and combined strength.

On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" to Military Region 2 for its particularly outstanding achievements in training, combat readiness, building the People's Army, consolidating national defense, contributing to the cause of building socialism and protecting the Fatherland.
