Hanoi pilots greening of railway bridge pillars and underpasses
Hanoi pilots greening of 3 elevated railway bridge piers, Le Van Luong - To Huu underpass, overpass and bus waiting area.
The city is piloting the model of greening 3 elevated railway bridge piers, Le Van Luong - To Huu underpass, Le Van Luong - Lang Ha overpass and 3 bus stops. Relevant units focus on implementing design solutions for planting and renovating green trees to enhance green space at some urban technical infrastructure projects in the area.
Accordingly, the greening pilot model is implemented at 3 elevated railway bridge piers on Nguyen Trai street, the area in front of Royal City building; Le Van Luong - To Huu underpass; Le Van Luong - Lang Ha overpass and 3 bus stops.
The selected waiting rooms include the University of Pharmacy waiting room on Le Thanh Tong street, the waiting room near Xanh Pon Hospital on Tran Phu street and the waiting room No. 69 Ly Thuong Kiet.
For elevated railway bridge pillars, functional forces plan to install a corrugated iron frame system that hugs the body of the pillar, without drilling or chiseling into the concrete structure. Trees are prioritized for planting at the base of the pillar and climbing around the body, ensuring that they do not reach the bridge girder or technical equipment, creating favorable conditions for periodic inspection and maintenance.
At the Le Van Luong - To Huu underpass, the greening research area is about 200m2 of trellises along the architectural span. The tunnel wall is arranged with module-shaped pots with a total length of about 300m, planted with hanging trees inside, controlled length 2-3m. A specialized irrigation system is installed to limit water from polluting the tunnel walls.
For bus shelters, the bushes are arranged behind or on both sides of the shelters, not occupying people's walkways. These locations combine a light cable frame system for trees to climb onto the walls and roofs.
In the context of increasingly limited public land funds, the integration of green spaces into technical infrastructure projects is expected to contribute to improving the efficiency of urban space use, improving landscape and environment.
This is also one of the solutions implemented by Hanoi City to increase green space, gradually forming an eco-infrastructure system associated with sustainable urban development.
