Hanoi has more models for functional rehabilitation, early intervention and assistance for vulnerable people

On October 1st, information at the program, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thinh, Vice Chairman of Ba Vi Commune People's Committee, said that Ba Vi commune is an area with population distributed in many areas, the population is about nearly 27,000 people, the proportion of ethnic minorities accounts for 53.8%. On the other hand, according to surveys and statistics, Ba Vi commune currently has 400 people with disabilities and vulnerable people, accounting for 1.5% of the commune's population.

In addition, in the commune, there are many elderly people, people with musculoskeletal diseases, sequelae after accidents... who need to be rehabilitated regularly, continuously and for a long time. Having to travel far for treatment causes no small difficulties in travel costs, time and care conditions. Therefore, the implementation of community rehabilitation models is of practical significance, creating conditions for people with disabilities, the elderly and those in need to access rehabilitation services right in the locality.

According to Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Health Dinh Hong Phong, for people with disabilities, the elderly and vulnerable groups, the requirement is not only to ensure access to medical examination and treatment services but also to build a continuous care system, rehabilitation, early intervention and comprehensive assistance right in the community, helping people to be cared for right from their place of residence, reducing the burden on families and treatment facilities, and improving the quality of life and social inclusion.

To ensure that the model in Ba Vi commune achieves practical and sustainable efficiency, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Health Dinh Hong Phong requested Hanoi Rehabilitation Hospital to continue to promote its role as the city's focal point for expertise; strengthen training, technical transfer, professional guidance, remote consultation, inspection, supervision and evaluation of model implementation results.

Along with that, Ba Vi Commune Health Station needs to continue to review and establish management records for subjects; properly assess the needs of functional rehabilitation, early intervention and social assistance; closely coordinate with hospitals and related forces to continuously and comprehensively manage people's health. The team of health officials, social workers and volunteers needs to promote the spirit of responsibility, dedication, closeness to the people, and closeness to the people; consider the satisfaction and quality of life of the people as a measure of the effectiveness of the model.

With the implementation in Ba Vi commune, the city has completed 5/5 (100%) communes and wards implementing pilot models of functional rehabilitation, early intervention and assistance for people with disabilities and vulnerable people based on family and community in the period 2026 - 2030, including: Xuan Mai, Khuong Dinh, Phuc Thinh, Tay Mo, Ba Vi.
