Turning cultural strength into a driving force for national development
The Party Committee for Mass Mobilization, the Fatherland Front and central mass organizations and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front organized a scientific conference "Promoting cultural strength and great national unity in the new era".
The conference aims to clarify the relationship between culture and national unity, identify the role and responsibility of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and member organizations in the new development stage; and at the same time propose solutions to implement Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Tran Thang - Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee for Mass Mobilization, the Fatherland Front and Central Agencies, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front said: patriotism, compatriotism, and the spirit of compassion are the values that create a foundation to connect all classes of people. Great solidarity creates an environment and mobilizes resources for cultural values to be preserved, created and developed.
However, the process of urbanization, labor migration, digital transformation and international integration are changing community life. Differences in living conditions, needs and access to resources raise the requirement to strengthen dialogue, ensure legitimate rights and opportunities to enjoy culture for people.
In his presentation, Comrade Nguyen Minh Chung - Head of the Propaganda and Training Department of the Party Committee for Mass Mobilization, the Fatherland Front and Central Agencies emphasized the requirement that streamlined organizational structure must go hand in hand with improving the capacity to gather people, coordinate actions effectively and be more attached to community life.
Notably, according to the presentation of the Social Work Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the whole country has 637,534 people's self-management models with more than 23.4 million members. On average, over 92.5% of residential areas organize the Great National Unity Festival; over 72% organize "Great Unity Meal".
These results show the role of the Front in promoting the spirit of self-management, mutual support and community cohesion from the grassroots level.
Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposes solutions to build workers' culture
Presenting a presentation at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Manh Kien - Member of the Standing Committee, Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized that workers not only create material wealth but are also creative, practical and spreading cultural values in labor and life.
To promote this role, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has made notable proposals and solutions.
First, build a set of criteria "Vietnamese worker culture in the new era" with 5 values: Patriotism - Discipline - Responsibility - Professionalism - Creativity. At the same time, incorporate commitments on labor safety, rest time, gender equality and support for worker families into collective labor agreements.
Second, promote occupational safety culture, improve the effectiveness of safety and hygiene networks; ensure the right to refuse work when there is a direct threat to life as prescribed.
Third, improve the quality of dialogue and collective negotiation; shift from resolving cases to dialogue on social security, vocational training and fair sharing of growth achievements.
Fourth, improve the effectiveness of Trade Union cultural institutions; research and organize film screenings, art activities, legal advice, mobile health check-ups in industrial parks and boarding houses; implement the annual Workers' Culture Day.
Fifth, promote the "Digital Literacy" movement, provide free online learning materials on foreign languages, informatics, safety skills and personal financial management; improve the ability to recognize false information in cyberspace.
Solutions aimed at improving the material and spiritual lives of workers, promoting the role of workers in building a united community, contributing to consolidating the great national unity bloc.
