Trieu Binh promotes communication, opening up livelihoods for poor households
Quang Tri - Trieu Binh commune promotes communication, provides information and supports animal husbandry, helping people develop livelihoods and increase income.
From small-scale farming to economic model development
Previously, Ms. Le Thi Hien Nu's family (born in 1980, residing in Trieu Dai village, Trieu Binh commune, Quang Tri province) mainly raised a few chickens and ducks to get meat and eggs to serve the family. Belonging to poor households, with many children, and facing many economic difficulties, even though the couple worked hard, expanding production was still beyond their ability.
We don't have any capital, so we only raise a few chickens and ducks for meat, never thinking about developing a larger livestock model" - Ms. Nu shared.
A turning point when Trieu Binh Commune People's Committee implemented a production development support model under the National Target Program on Poverty Reduction. Not only supporting breeds and feed, the program also focuses on technical guidance, consulting and providing information for people to grasp the market, gradually shifting from small-scale farming to planned production, opening up livelihoods.

Ms. Nu's family was supported with 200 breeding hybrid fighting chickens along with food and instructions on how to care for them. Following the guided process, the chicken flock developed well, reaching a weight of 2-3kg/chicken. Up to now, the family has sold part of the chicken flock, initially bringing in a significant income.
Besides the chicken farming model, Ms. Nu's family also expanded barns, developed an additional flock of 300 ducks, raised cows and sows to diversify livestock and increase income opportunities.
The output of chickens is still quite difficult, but the first batch has earned about 20 million VND for the family. For us, this is a very encouraging amount of money, creating more motivation to continue raising chickens" - Ms. Nu said.

From initial support, Ms. Nu's family has more conditions to accumulate experience, be more proactive in production and gradually build a livelihood suitable to the family's capacity.
