The Workers' Culture Day is held annually in November, with many cultural, sports, health care, and support activities for workers in difficult circumstances...

On October 22, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor issued guidelines for organizing the Workers' Culture Day in trade union levels, responding to Vietnam Culture Day and the National Unity Day every year.

According to the instructions, the festival is held in November, focusing on peak periods from November 18-24.

Organizing festivals from the General Confederation level to the grassroots level

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will select, direct and coordinate with a provincial or city labor federation, central and equivalent industry trade unions, or corporations directly under the Confederation to organize the Workers' Culture Day at the General Confederation level.

Each provincial and city labor federation, central and equivalent industry trade union, and general corporation trade union directly under the General Confederation organize at least one provincial and industry-level festival activity.

In localities with few workers, trade unions can coordinate with the Fatherland Front at the same level to organize in combination with the Great National Unity Festival, ensuring thrift and efficiency. Commune, ward, and special zone trade unions also coordinate with the Fatherland Front at the same level to deploy appropriate activities.

For industrial park trade unions and grassroots enterprise trade unions, guide and encourage proactively organize response activities, mobilize employers to support cultural and sports programs to serve union members and workers.

Expanding cultural enjoyment opportunities for workers

One of the key contents is to create conditions for workers to access, experience and enjoy cultural values. Trade union levels can organize for workers to participate in activities at cultural palaces, cultural houses, cultural and sports centers of the Trade Union organization; visit museums, libraries, relics, cultural heritage sites, cinemas, theaters and cultural institutions in localities and businesses.

Along with that, the trade union coordinates to mobilize cultural and sports units, amusement parks, museums, relics and businesses to apply policies of exemption and reduction of ticket prices, service fees or appropriate incentives for union members and workers.

Festivals, art performances, community exchanges, folk songs and dance performances, introduction of traditional costumes, cuisine and craft villages are also encouraged to be organized. In particular, migrant workers can directly introduce their homeland culture, contributing to strengthening exchanges between regions, generations and ethnicities.

Healthcare, promoting workers' initiatives

The festival can combine organizing sports tournaments, friendly football, volleyball, badminton, pickleball, running, tug-of-war and physical games suitable to workers' preferences.

Health counseling, nutrition, mental health, occupational safety and health, occupational accident and disease prevention, and food safety assurance activities are also integrated to contribute to building a healthy lifestyle and a safe working environment.

In addition to entertainment activities, trade union levels focus on honoring workers who have initiatives and creativity in production, achievements in labor, study and contributions to collectives and communities.

The implementation of the Project "Trade Unions participate in building and promoting occupational safety culture in the workplace in the period 2025 - 2030" is associated with building and spreading trade union culture, worker culture and safety culture in the workplace.

Literary and artistic creative contests, short photos and videos, design, professional storytelling and digital products are also encouraged. The content of the festival can integrate culture of behavior, dialogue, gender equality, prevention of violence, harassment in the workplace and environmental protection.

Connecting workers' families with the community

A noteworthy point in the guidance is to organize lifelong learning activities, improve digital skills and build a digital culture for workers. Trade union levels can implement the "Digital Literacy Program", guide bad and toxic information identification, prevent fraud in cyberspace, use artificial intelligence safely and responsibly; and introduce digital learning materials, electronic books and learning platforms.

Trade unions are also encouraged to apply technology, multimedia communication, virtual reality and artificial intelligence to introduce workers' cultural stories, cultural heritage and creative products of workers.

Notably, the festival also aims to strengthen the connection between workers' families and the community where they reside through family exchanges, activities for workers' children and exchanges at boarding houses. Activities are organized on a voluntary, economical, and safe basis.

Along with that, the trade union combines visiting and encouraging workers in difficult circumstances, who have had labor accidents, suffer from occupational diseases or serious illnesses.
