Lam Dong receives and donates 100 wheelchairs to people with disabilities in difficult circumstances
Lam Dong - The Provincial Red Cross Society receives support for 100 wheelchairs worth 800 million VND, donated to people with disabilities in difficult circumstances in the area.
On the morning of October 13th, the Lam Dong Provincial Red Cross Society in coordination with the International Wheelchair Foundation, the Association of Vietnamese Real Estate Experts in the United States (VNARP) and SAPIO Joint Stock Company organized a wheelchair donation program for people with disabilities, Agent Orange victims and people with polio in difficult circumstances.
At the program, sponsors presented a symbolic plaque of 100 wheelchairs, worth a total of 800 million VND, for the Provincial Red Cross Society to distribute and support people with limited travel capacity in communes, wards, and special zones.
On this occasion, 20 disabled people in difficult circumstances were directly given wheelchairs by representatives of sponsors and leaders of the Provincial Red Cross Society.
Representatives of the International Wheelchair Fund also guide families on techniques to use wheelchairs safely, helping recipients and caregivers use vehicles correctly in daily life.
Speaking at the program, Ms. Nguyen Thi Chin, Chairwoman of the Lam Dong Provincial Red Cross Society, thanked organizations, businesses and sponsors for accompanying the locality in humanitarian activities.
She emphasized that wheelchairs not only support travel but also contribute to reducing the burden of caring for families, creating more opportunities for people with disabilities to integrate into the community.
The Provincial Red Cross Society is committed to allocating the number of wheelchairs supported to the right beneficiaries, ensuring transparency and promoting the effectiveness of funding resources; and at the same time continuing to connect organizations and individuals to better care for vulnerable people.
Sharing at the program, Ms. Huynh Thi Mai, one of the people who received wheelchairs, expressed her emotion at the concern of the Provincial Red Cross Society and sponsors.
According to her, the domestic helper car is more convenient to travel, and also a source of spiritual encouragement for the family to have more faith and will to rise up in life.
Established in 2000, the Wheelchair Foundation has supported more than 1.15 million wheelchairs in 156 countries around the world, including nearly 15,000 vehicles in Vietnam.
Through the program, units continue to connect international resources with humanitarian work in localities, contributing to improving living conditions and enhancing integration opportunities for people with disabilities.
