Lam Dong builds 23 shelters for women in difficult circumstances
Lam Dong - In the first 9 months of 2026, provincial Women's Union levels supported the construction of 23 shelters and repaired 24 dilapidated houses for union members in difficult circumstances.
On October 12, the Lam Dong Provincial Women's Union (LHPN) said that the Union levels actively implemented the "House of Compassion" program, contributing to helping members stabilize their accommodation and gradually rise out of poverty.
In Dam Rong 2 commune, the Provincial Women's Union coordinated with the Provincial People's Procuracy and local authorities to donate more than 100 million VND to support Mr. Ha Bang and Ms. K'Gen's family to build a new house.
Ms. K'Gen's family is classified as a poor household, with particularly difficult circumstances. For many years, the family has lived in a temporary shack made of old corrugated iron, with dilapidated roofs and walls, not ensuring shelter when it rains and storms.
Her income mainly depends on her husband's hired work, while Ms. K'Gen is in poor health and stays at home to take care of her young child.
Having a new house, my family is very happy. From now on, we will no longer worry about rain and wind, we will try our best to work and take care of our children," Ms. K'Gen shared.
According to the Provincial Women's Union, the program prioritizes ethnic minority women, families in difficult circumstances and households living in temporary houses and degraded houses.
The Association proactively connects organizations, units, businesses, sponsors and local authorities to mobilize funds; and at the same time mobilizes families to contribute working days and materials suitable to actual conditions.
In addition to housing support, Association levels also connect and support capital, jobs and means of production, helping members have conditions to develop livelihoods and stabilize their lives for a long time.
In the past 5 years, the Lam Dong Provincial Women's Union at all levels has built and repaired nearly 350 "Houses of Compassion", with a total value of nearly 18 billion VND.
The program "Accompanying Border Women" alone supports the construction and repair of 98 shelters.
