General Secretary and President To Lam begins state visit to the Kingdom of Denmark
The official welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife was solemnly held at Copenhagen International Airport, Denmark.
According to VNA, at the invitation of King Frederik X of Denmark and Queen, on the morning of October 19 (local time), General Secretary and President To Lam, along with his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and the high-level Vietnamese delegation, arrived at Copenhagen International Airport, Denmark, beginning a state visit to the Kingdom of Denmark from October 19-21, 2026.
The official welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife was solemnly held at Copenhagen International Airport. King Frederik X and Queen Mary presided over the welcoming ceremony.
The King and Queen of Denmark welcomed General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife at the foot of the aircraft stairs. The Royal Guard Corps military band performed the Medal of Honor, followed by the flag salute ceremony. The Head of the Royal Ceremony invited General Secretary and President To Lam and the King of Denmark to review the honor guard and introduce officials from both sides.
At the end of the welcoming ceremony, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the King and Queen of Denmark, laid wreaths at the Monument in Copenhagen.
Denmark was one of the first Western countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1971, and for more than half a century has always been one of Vietnam's important companions.
The relationship between the two countries is constantly being strengthened, expanded and raised to new levels, including the Comprehensive Partnership in 2013 and the Green Strategic Partnership in 2023. The visit contributes to further consolidating and enhancing political trust, identifying directions and priorities for long-term cooperation, bringing bilateral relations to develop more comprehensively and in depth.
The State visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to Denmark took place on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two sides. Based on the friendly, politically reliable and good cooperative relations in the past 55 years, this visit by General Secretary and President To Lam is an opportunity for both sides to set out strategic orientations, elevate relations in a new development stage, and promote cooperation with Denmark to become a typical cooperation model between Vietnam and a Nordic partner.
