Continue to concretize and effectively implement high-level Vietnam - Laos agreements

On November 4, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary and President To Lam received Lao National Assembly Chairman Sonexay Siphandone and the high-level delegation of the Lao National Assembly on their official visit to Vietnam.

At the reception, Lao National Assembly Chairman Sonexay Siphandone expressed his deep gratitude for the great, timely and effective support and assistance that Vietnam has given to Laos from the past to the present; affirmed that the Lao National Assembly will continue to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese National Assembly, promote the effective implementation of agreements between the senior leaders of the two Parties, the two countries and cooperation agreements between the two National Assemblies, contributing to bringing the relations between the two countries to stable and sustainable development.

General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that the two Parties, the two countries and the National Assemblies of the two countries are facing the requirement of innovation, perfecting institutions and improving governance efficiency.

To continue to strengthen and further enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation, General Secretary and President To Lam requested the two Parties and two States to continue to closely coordinate, concretize and effectively implement high-level agreements, focusing on promoting the effectiveness of strategic cooperation, economy - trade with specific programs, projects, and works based on the strengths and needs of each country, commensurate with the level of political relations and the potential of the two countries, so that the two countries can develop together; at the same time, strengthen exchanges and connections to consolidate friendship and attachment between the people of the two countries.

General Secretary and President To Lam requested the National Assemblies of the two sides to continue to concretize and effectively implement the content of "strategic linkage" from agencies, specialized committees of the National Assembly, National Assembly delegations, and People's Councils of localities, strengthen exchanges and mutual support, considering this as a long-term orientation, a foundation to ensure sustainable and lasting development of Vietnam-Laos relations; promote information exchange and practical experience sharing in the fields of work of the National Assembly.

In which, there is building and perfecting institutions, improving the effectiveness of cooperation in legislation, supervision and decision-making on important issues of the country; promoting the role of the legislative body in spreading the strengths of political, defense, and security cooperation to the fields of economy, trade, and investment;

Accompanying the two Governments to effectively implement high-level agreements, economic cooperation agreements, investment, trade and key projects such as connecting transportation, energy, minerals..., promptly remove difficulties and obstacles, create a favorable legal corridor for businesses and localities of the two countries to expand effective and sustainable cooperation; contributing to mobilizing the strength of the people, creating new development opportunities for each country;

Continue to coordinate and support each other at regional and international parliamentary forums; coordinate to organize well activities in many forms suitable for celebrating the Year of Vietnam - Laos Friendship and Solidarity 2027.

The Chairman of the Lao National Assembly affirmed that he will work with senior leaders of Laos and the leadership of the 10th National Assembly to direct departments, ministries, branches, agencies and committees of the National Assembly to continue to strengthen close cooperation with the Vietnamese side, strengthen connectivity between the two Parties and two countries in all fields.

The two National Assemblies will continue to strengthen exchanges and share experiences, improve the effectiveness of performing functions, tasks and powers according to the regulations of each country; closely coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure that the guidelines and cooperation agreements between the two Parties and two States are institutionalized and effectively implemented, thereby contributing to improving the quality of operation of each National Assembly, meeting the development requirements of each country in the new stage and the aspirations of the People.
