A support in the lives and jobs of nearly 11,000 workers

Caring from practical things

With the concept "workers are the most precious asset", Mr. Vo Thanh Nha - Member of the Executive Committee of the An Giang Provincial Labor Federation, Chairman of the Grassroots Trade Union of An Giang Samho Company - and the Executive Committee proactively coordinated with the Board of Directors to implement many welfare models close to practical needs.

Currently, the company has nearly 11,000 workers and union members, reaching a rate of 97.12%. In which, the "Trade Union Supermarket" model provides essential goods with clear origins, stable prices, attracting more than 80% of workers to shop after 9 months of operation. The grassroots trade union also installed 8 machines to produce pure ice, providing free of charge more than 2 tons of ice/day in the hot season and maintaining the free tire repair pumping model, supporting workers to work overtime at night.

Not only taking care of welfare, the grassroots trade union also focuses on negotiation, including many clauses that are more beneficial than legal regulations in the Collective Labor Agreement. New workers who meet the interview requirements can sign contracts immediately, without trials, and at the same time receive attraction allowances from 330,000-400,000 VND/month.

Notably, female workers who are pregnant or raising children under 12 months old are entitled to a reduction of 1 working hour per day but still receive full salary and an additional day off paid each month. In May 2024, the grassroots trade union also advised business leaders to adjust and increase regional allowances and minimum wages ahead of schedule.

Along with that, the grassroots trade union is interested in supporting union members in difficult circumstances. The "SamHo Shelter" program has awarded 3 houses, with a total value of 300 million VND; activities to mobilize support for workers suffering from critical illnesses have mobilized more than 700 million VND.

Arousing creativity, nurturing faith

In his position as Chairman of the Grassroots Trade Union cum Manager of the Lamination Department, Mr. Vo Thanh Nha also actively promotes the movement "Good Labor - Creative Labor". Not only launching and urging, he also directly implements initiatives that bring practical economic efficiency.

Typically, improving fabric pasting machines helps increase output by 400-600m/day, saving 520-780 million VND/year in external processing costs. The initiative to improve Sticker machines helps businesses save more than 90 million VND/month, while reducing workload for workers.

From negotiating beneficial policies, implementing practical welfare to encouraging initiatives and mutual support for colleagues, An Giang Samho Grassroots Trade Union has gradually affirmed its representative role, accompanying workers. Thereby, contributing to building harmonious and stable labor relations and creating motivation for workers to stick with the business for a long time.

With that achievement, the grassroots trade union and Mr. Nha personally were awarded many emulation titles by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the An Giang Provincial Confederation of Labour.
