New electricity price list for charging stations, highest at over 4,200 VND/kWh
According to Decision 2892/QD-BCT, electricity prices for electric vehicle charging are applied according to voltage levels and peak, low, and normal hours.
Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) has just announced Decision No. 2892 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade regulating electricity selling prices, accompanied by an appendix to the price schedule applicable to each customer group.
Notably, this decision supplements a separate retail electricity price list for electric vehicle charging activities. Specifically, for voltage levels from medium voltage and above (over 1kV), electricity prices are regulated at 2,549 VND/kWh during normal hours, 1,534 VND/kWh during off-peak hours and 3,758 VND/kWh during peak hours.
For low-voltage power supplies up to 1kV, peak hour electricity prices are up to 4,212 VND/kWh, while normal hour electricity prices are 2,700 VND/kWh and low hour are 1,620 VND/kWh. The above prices do not include value-added tax (VAT).
Regarding the applicable time frame, peak hours are determined from 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM on Mondays to Saturdays, corresponding to 5 hours/day. Sundays do not apply peak hours.
Normal hours are applied from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM and from 10:30 PM to 12:00 AM on Mondays to Saturdays, with a total time of 13 hours/day. On Sundays, the normal hours last from 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM.
Meanwhile, peak hours are applied from 0:00 to 6:00 on all days of the week, equivalent to 6 hours/day.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the electricity price for electric vehicle charging activities is currently determined at a level between the electricity price for production and the electricity price for business. In addition, this is also a customer group with the ability to flexibly adjust charging time, limiting electricity use during peak hours, thereby contributing to reducing load pressure on the power system.
