Prime Minister Le Minh Hung arrives in Vientiane Capital, beginning an official visit to Laos

On the afternoon of October 8, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and the high-level Vietnamese delegation arrived in Vientiane capital, beginning an official visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Saleumxay Kommasith, according to the Government's Department of Information and Communications.

The visit takes place just days after the Lao National Assembly elected Comrade Saleumxay Kommasith to hold the position of Prime Minister of Laos. The visit is also a practical preparation for milestones in 2027, when Vietnam and Laos celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.

The visit affirms Vietnam's consistent policy of always valuing and giving top priority to relations with Laos; always accompanying, supporting and willing to share with Laos on the path of national development; determined to work with Laos to preserve, nurture, and make the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic linkage between Vietnam and Laos increasingly effective and sustainable, especially in the new period.

During the visit, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Lao High-Level Leaders will exchange in-depth views on specific measures to promote cooperation and create new momentum for the relationship between the two countries in the coming period, especially in practical areas suitable to the interests of each country.

Through the visit, the two sides continued to concretize agreements and high-level common understandings, improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, promote economic, trade, investment cooperation, infrastructure connectivity and linkage between the two economies.

The visit also promotes cooperation in education and training, human resource development, science and technology and some new fields. People-to-people exchanges, especially between young generations, will also be strengthened.

In an interview with the Vietnamese press, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos Thongsavan Phomvihane affirmed the historical significance and importance of this visit to Laos - the first official foreign visit of Comrade Le Minh Hung since taking office as Prime Minister of Vietnam.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos emphasized that the Lao side expects the visit to create an important breakthrough in raising the level of economic cooperation commensurate with the stature of the special political relationship between the two countries.
