Dak Lak - More than 83,700 people aged 60 to under 75 can receive full support for health insurance contributions.

On October 20, Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee informed that the province is considering a proposal to support 100% of health insurance (HI) contributions for more than 83,700 elderly people who do not have HI cards. The total estimated cost is more than 114.4 billion VND per year. The policy aims to reduce the burden of medical examination and treatment costs and ensure social security.

The subjects proposed for support are people from 60 years old to under 75 years old, who are permanently registered in Dak Lak province, do not have health insurance cards and have not received health insurance contribution support policies from other programs.

According to statistics, the whole province currently has 450,444 elderly people. Through review, there are 83,768 people aged 60 to under 75 years old who do not have health insurance cards. The main reason is difficult economic conditions or not belonging to the group supported by the state budget for contributions.

This is a group at risk of chronic diseases, non-communicable diseases and often needs medical examination and treatment. When there is no health insurance card, the elderly have to pay for hospital fees and medicine themselves.

This increases the financial burden on themselves and their families, while limiting access to healthcare services.

To overcome the above situation, the Provincial People's Committee proposes to support 100% of the health insurance contribution level according to current regulations for those who are eligible. With an estimated support level of 1,366,200 VND/person/year, the total policy implementation cost is estimated at more than 114.4 billion VND per year.

Mr. Y Nhuan Bya - Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee said that the policy is expected to contribute to expanding the coverage of HI, creating conditions for the elderly to access medical examination and treatment services and proactively take care of their health. Through this, the policy also helps reduce the risk of falling into difficulties due to health costs.

At the same time, this is a solution that shows the local concern for the elderly, contributing to ensuring social security in the context of an increasingly aging population.
