Nghe An trains teachers in disaster prevention for two schools
Nghe An - A disaster prevention and control training project is being implemented in two schools to improve student response and protection skills.
On the afternoon of October 12, the Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Society coordinated with Nguyen Tiem Primary School and Tran Quoc Hoan Secondary School to organize a conference to deploy the Project to improve disaster prevention and mitigation capacity in 2026 for teachers of the two schools.
The project is co-sponsored by Vietnam Beverage Co., Ltd. and Saigon Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Corporation (SABECO).
The conference was held at Nguyen Tiem Elementary School (Division 2), Thien Nhan commune, Nghe An province, with the participation of representatives of local authorities, the Provincial Red Cross Society, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, sponsors and officials and teachers of the two schools.

According to the Project Steering Committee, the program includes 9 key activities, focusing on training in disaster prevention knowledge, building a safe school framework, first aid skills, drowning prevention and education, and communication on disaster risk reduction.
In addition, the project also implements school safety assessment, integrates disaster prevention knowledge into the curriculum, organizes exchange activities for students and evacuation drills in emergencies.
Through activities, teachers are equipped with knowledge and skills to identify risks, proactively respond to and minimize damage caused by natural disasters, contributing to building a safe educational environment.
Representatives of the Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Association said that the locality is frequently affected by storms, heavy rain, flash floods and landslides. Among them, children are the most vulnerable group when natural disasters occur.
Therefore, improving the disaster prevention capacity for teachers is of practical significance, helping schools proactively develop response plans and ensure safety for students.
At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Hai Son - representative of Vietnam Beverage - emphasized that schools are not only places to impart knowledge but also must ensure a safe environment for students. Therefore, equipping teachers with disaster prevention skills is extremely necessary.
Representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Nghe An province highly appreciated the significance of the project, and said that they will coordinate to provide disaster warning information, support evacuation drills and aim to replicate the model in other schools.
It is known that since 2023, Vietnam Beverage has implemented disaster prevention training activities for teachers in some central provinces. SABECO also participates in many community support activities, including a support of 1 billion VND for people affected by storms and floods in Nghe An and Ha Tinh in 2025.
