Can Tho - The receipt and resolution of voters' petitions needs to have clear focal points, clear responsibilities, ensure legitimate rights, and not allow people to travel back and forth many times.

On the morning of October 12, in Can Tho, the Conference on people's aspirations and supervision in 2026 in the Southern region took place.

Speaking at the opening, Mr. Hoang Anh Cong - Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Petitions and Supervision clearly stated that the desire through this series of conferences is to create a substantive exchange forum: issues from the grassroots level are fully reflected; effective ways of doing things are shared; difficulties are analyzed thoroughly to find solutions together.

According to Mr. Hoang Anh Cong, Southern localities with rich and dynamic development practices also raise many issues that need to be concerned about in people's aspirations and supervision.

Accordingly, in urban and industrial areas, issues of land, planning, compensation, resettlement, housing, employment and access to public services are directly related to the lives of a large number of people. For the Mekong Delta, people's livelihoods are also associated with agricultural production, water sources, environment, landslides and the ability to adapt to climate change.

Mr. Hoang Anh Cong said that these issues require elected agencies to closely follow reality, understand the characteristics of each area, choose the right focus of supervision and follow to the end the implementation of recommendations.

There are issues under the responsibility of one locality; there are issues that require coordination between many localities and central agencies. Therefore, recommendations must originate from specific practices, and at the same time clearly see the general relationship to propose appropriate solutions," emphasized the Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Petitions and Supervision.

Along with the operation of the two-level local government model, Mr. Hoang Anh Cong informed that the requirement is to ensure smoothness in receiving, processing and resolving voters' petitions, complaints, and denunciations of citizens. Handed over dossiers must have a receiving agency, a responsible person and a clear processing schedule.

The arrangement of the organizational structure must be linked to the requirement to serve the people better, not to let the responsibility of resolving be interrupted, not to let people have to travel many times because the clues are not clear," Mr. Hoang Anh Cong emphasized.

Over the past time, National Assembly Delegations, People's Councils and relevant agencies have made efforts to innovate voter contact, citizen reception, petition processing and supervision; many practical recommendations have been received, contributing to removing difficulties and perfecting policies and laws.

However, there are still limitations such as summarizing recommendations not close to the issue, answering not specifically, coordination and urging not close; some prolonged cases are slow to be resolved, and the application of technology and data sharing is not yet synchronized.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Dong Van Thanh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Can Tho City said that the city is continuing to innovate management methods, improve the quality of service to the people, improve the investment environment, promote potentials and advantages and build a modern, effective and efficient administration.

The ultimate goal is not only to fully complete the process and procedures, but also to create specific changes in life; so that people can see their opinions being listened to, their recommendations being seriously considered, and their legitimate issues being resolved with responsibility, receptiveness, and a spirit of service.

A response that is in accordance with regulations is necessary, but a satisfactory, grounded, legal and consensual solution is what needs to be aimed at," Mr. Dong Van Thanh emphasized.
