Hai Phong - Hai Phong recorded nearly 60 billion VND registered to support the "For the Poor" Fund in 2026, aiming for the goal of no more poor households by 2027.
On October 29th, at the Eastern Culture Center, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city coordinated with the People's Committee of Hai Phong City to organize a conference to launch the "For the Poor" Peak Month and commend units, localities, and philanthropists who have made positive contributions in mobilizing and supporting the "For the Poor" Fund in 2026.

Speaking to launch the "For the Poor" Peak Month 2026, Mr. Pham Van Lap - Chairman of the City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee emphasized: Along with the task of economic development, Hai Phong always determines that investment in social security must go one step ahead.

In recent years, the city has implemented many practical support policies, creating conditions for the poor and people in difficult circumstances to gradually stabilize their lives, increase income and rise out of poverty.
Promoting the role of bridge, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels, socio-political organizations and member organizations have actively mobilized social resources to build new and repair houses for the poor; support capital, seeds, and means of production; and at the same time help people get medical examination and treatment and overcome difficult circumstances.
However, according to the review results until the end of 2025, Hai Phong still has 1,693 poor households and 12,824 near-poor households. Among them, 1,134 households need housing support, including 909 households needing new construction and 225 households needing repairs. Many households are in particularly difficult circumstances, unable to work, lacking stable income sources, and need regular and long-term support.

Faced with that reality, the city sets a goal to strive to eliminate poor households by 2027, reduce near-poor households, and complete one year earlier than the target set out in the Resolution of the 1st Hai Phong City Party Congress, term 2025-2030.
At the conference, units and philanthropists registered to support the "For the Poor" Fund at all levels of the city with a total amount of 59 billion 895 million VND.
In which, the City-level "For the Poor" Fund received registrations to support 27 billion 483 million VND; member organizations of the City Fatherland Front registered to support the poor 10 billion VND; communes, wards, and special zones mobilized registrations to support 22 billion 412 million VND.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Do Thanh Trung - Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee praised and acknowledged the practical contributions of agencies, units, localities, businesses, entrepreneurs and philanthropists in mobilizing and supporting the "For the Poor" Fund.
Mr. Do Thanh Trung emphasized the meaning of joint efforts from the community in supporting the poor to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives, thereby contributing to the goal of developing the city in a modern, civilized, prosperous and humane direction.
Within the framework of the conference, city leaders and representatives of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front presented 45 gifts, each worth 2.5 million VND, to poor households, victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, former youth volunteers and children in particularly difficult circumstances.
