Improving the capacity of Front officials in ethnic and religious affairs
The conference was organized to improve the capacity of ethnic and religious affairs for Front officials and socio-political organizations.
On October 27, in Quang Ninh City, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) organized a Conference to thoroughly grasp the documents of the Politburo and the Secretariat on ethnic and religious affairs and training to improve capacity for VFF officials and socio-political organizations.
Attending the conference were Mr. Nguyen Phi Long, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee for Mass Mobilization, Front and Central Agencies, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee (CC) of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Member of the Presidium, Head of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities and Religions, CC of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and representatives of leaders and officials working in ethnic and religious affairs of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations of provinces and cities.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Phi Long affirmed that ethnic affairs and religious affairs play a very important role and position in the cause of building the great national unity bloc, the great endogenetic strength of the country.
Thoroughly grasping the documents of the Politburo, the Secretariat and the training content, Mr. Nguyen Phi Long emphasized the persistence of the Party's viewpoint on ethnicity and religion: implementing the principle of equality, solidarity, respect, and mutual assistance for mutual development between ethnic groups; respecting and ensuring the right to freedom of belief and religion. Along with that, resolutely and persistently fighting against all acts of taking advantage of ethnicity and religion to violate the law and oppose the Party and the State.
Ethnic and religious affairs must be placed in the overall context, closely linked to sustainable socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, foreign affairs and building a political system at the grassroots level.
Mr. Nguyen Phi Long also noted that it is necessary to proactively innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness of propaganda and mobilization work, especially in cyberspace.
The conference focused on deploying and thoroughly grasping new documents and policies of the Politburo and the Secretariat on work for Mong ethnic and Hoa ethnic minority areas; work for Catholicism, Protestantism, Cao Dai, Hoa Hao Buddhism, Islam and new beliefs and religions; mass mobilization work of the Party in ethnic minority areas in the new period.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ninh City affirmed that ethnic and religious affairs have always been of concern to the city, identified as a regular task, of great significance for the stability and sustainable development of the locality.
In recent years, Quang Ninh has prioritized resources to invest in infrastructure, strengthen regional connectivity; develop production, create livelihoods; improve the quality of education, health, culture and life in ethnic minority, mountainous, border, and island areas, contributing to narrowing the gap between rich and poor, and regional disparities. Along with caring for material life, the city always pays attention to preserving and promoting the identity and traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities.
Regarding religious affairs, the city always respects and ensures the freedom of belief and religion of the people; cares for and creates conditions for religious activities in accordance with the law; regularly meets, listens to, and pays attention to resolving the legitimate aspirations of dignitaries, officials, and religious compatriots... Thereby, contributing to promoting the strength of the people in building and developing Quang Ninh city, making positive contributions to the overall development of the country.
At the conference, delegates were also thoroughly grasped of the documents, plans, and guidelines of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on implementing the new guidelines of the Central Government on ethnic and religious affairs.
In addition, the Organizing Committee will implement the conclusions and guidelines of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on innovating the content and methods of operation of the Front and socio-political organizations in ethnic and religious affairs in the new period; introduce some contents related to the National Target Program on building new rural areas, sustainable poverty reduction and socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the 2026 - 2035 period.
