Lao Cai commends 50 people with prestige among ethnic minorities
Lao Cai - A team of prestigious people among ethnic minorities is contributing to economic development, poverty reduction, and preserving cultural identity.
On the afternoon of October 27, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province organized a conference to commend and honor advanced examples, promoting the role of prestigious people among ethnic minorities in 2026.
Attending the conference were Mr. Nguyen The Phuoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; representatives of departments, agencies, and sectors, along with 200 delegates who are prestigious people in the area.
Lao Cai province currently has 2,286 reputable people in ethnic minority areas.
This is a force that actively propagates and mobilizes people to develop production, reduce poverty, build new rural areas, preserve cultural identity and maintain security and order.
In the period 2025 - 2026, the Fatherland Front at all levels will promote propaganda of the Party's guidelines, policies, and laws of the State; mobilize people to participate in patriotic emulation movements.
Through the campaign to build new rural areas, people have donated more than 700,000m2 of land, contributed working days, funds and materials to build transport infrastructure.
Social security work is concerned. In 2026, the Provincial Fatherland Front coordinated to allocate more than 14 billion VND to support housing for poor households, near-poor households and households in difficult circumstances.
During the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year, the whole province presented 105,770 gifts with a total budget of more than 57.5 billion VND.
Many reputable people have made specific contributions to the community. Mr. Phung Tien Ho, a reputable person in Quy Mong commune, mobilized people to donate 520m2 of land, contribute 250 working days to build 500m of concrete road, helping 2 households escape poverty.
In economic development, Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang, a reputable person in Ban Chao, Viet Hong commune, mobilized people to develop more than 5 hectares of Bat Do bamboo shoots.
In addition, reputable people actively mediate conflicts, mobilize people to eliminate outdated customs, prevent early marriage, consanguineous marriage and illegal entry and exit. In the period 2025 - 2026, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have organized nearly 500 thematic propaganda sessions.
At the conference, delegates shared experiences in mobilizing people to develop the economy, reduce poverty, build new rural areas, develop community tourism and preserve cultural identity.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen The Phuoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province, acknowledged the contributions of prestigious people in socio-economic development, preserving cultural identity and ensuring national defense and security.
Mr. Nguyen The Phuoc requested reputable people to continue to promote their core role, mobilize people to unite, develop production, and reduce poverty sustainably; actively mediate conflicts from the grassroots level, propagate to eliminate outdated customs, maintain security and order, and protect national border sovereignty.
Levels and sectors need to pay attention to fully implementing regimes and policies for reputable people, promptly commend and replicate good models and effective ways of doing things, contributing to building Lao Cai to develop in the direction of "Green, harmonious, unique, and happy".
On this occasion, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province awarded Certificates of Merit to 50 prestigious people with outstanding achievements in patriotic emulation movements and building the great national unity bloc.
