Workers need to be ideologically oriented in closer ways

The workshop took place under the chairmanship of Standing Vice President of the VGCL Ngo Duy Hieu, with the participation of representatives of the Fatherland Front, central agencies, relevant departments, ministries, and sectors; scientists, experts, and researchers in the field of ideological work, building the working class and trade union activities.

The necessity of building the Project stems from the following factors: The development in quantity and quality of the worker and labor force in the new era; the requirement for deep and comprehensive international integration in the context of globalization and the impact of science and technology; the current situation of material, spiritual, political and ideological awareness of the Vietnamese worker force; the characteristics of the worker and labor force in the new era and in the context of digital transformation;

Characteristics of the trade union organization in the context of international integration and the implementation of new generation free trade agreements; the current situation of ideological work and ideological workers in the Vietnam Trade Union organization; the particularly important position and role of ideological work for the revolutionary cause in general and the cause of building the Vietnamese working class in the new era in particular; the new context poses new requirements for ideological work in general, including ideological work for the working class, both in terms of content, methods and measures.

In which, noteworthy is the care and political and ideological education for workers, especially young workers, not only to raise awareness but also to contribute to fostering ideals, political bravery, class consciousness, sense of responsibility and awareness of law compliance; improving the ability to identify, receive and process information, maintaining political stance in the face of problems arising in practice. Thereby, promoting the pioneering and creative role of workers in labor production, patriotic emulation movements and the cause of building and developing the country.

Exchanging at the workshop, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duy Hung (Ministry of Public Security) emphasized that ideological work for workers is key and suggested that the Project should clearly define the scope of workers to be targeted, not only limited to workers in factories and enterprises but also including workers in the informal sector such as technology drivers. This is a group with the characteristic of working scattered, not concentrated in one location and frequently interacting in the digital environment. Therefore, it is necessary to have appropriate propaganda and orientation methods.

According to Mr. Hung, it is necessary to assess the ideological situation of workers and laborers; identify tricks that affect the prestige, trust and image of the Trade Union organization, as well as forms of ideological incitement, to have effective prevention and combat solutions. At the same time, it is necessary to add two groups of key solutions: protecting the ideological foundation of the Party, fighting against wrong and hostile views; proactively preventing and fighting against fake news and false information.

Giving opinions on the Draft Project, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Thong - former Secretary General of the Central Theoretical Council contributed on how to build the content structure of the Project, thereby evaluating and pointing out the current situation to come up with solutions.

Lawyer Le Dinh Quang (former Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor) suggested that it should be designed into 4 sections, including the section on necessity, basis for building the Project; Current situation of the ideology of workers, civil servants, and laborers. Mr. Quang hoped that the Project would reflect the spirit of shifting the focus of ideological work to the grassroots level.

A noteworthy opinion from Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuan - Vice Chairman of the grassroots trade union of Hanoi Clean Water Co., Ltd. - where there are more than 2,500 workers - said that reality shows that it is very necessary to transform propaganda content into action. Especially, it is necessary to provide sets of documents in the form of videos so that workers can watch them on mobile phones while working.

In addition, some opinions from grassroots trade union officials suggest that workers need to be ideologically oriented in closer ways. Therefore, there should be specific solutions for grassroots levels to implement effectively.

Mr. Ngo Van Khuyen - Deputy Head of the People's Union Committee, Party Committee for Mass Mobilization, Fatherland Front and Central Unions stated that the tasks and solutions of the Project need to be consistent with reality and consistent with awareness, and at the same time associated with propaganda and mobilization to perform the tasks of agencies, units, and businesses.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Standing Vice President of the VGCL affirmed the importance of ideological work for workers because this is a subject that is very easily incited and attracted. Promoting the ideological orientation role of the Trade Union organization is very important, thereby ensuring the promotion of the role of the Trade Union organization.

The Standing Vice Chairman also emphasized that propaganda work needs to be linked to the selection of policies that are close and practical to workers.

Accepting the comments, the Project needs to clearly express the content of propaganda in forms suitable to the specific characteristics of workers working in shifts and shifts.
