Dong Thap pays attention to creating jobs for people who have completed their prison sentences
Dong Thap - The Provincial Employment Service Center is promoting counseling, training and job connection for people who have completed their prison sentences.
On October 1st, Mr. Nguyen Van Vu - Deputy Director of the Employment Service Center, Department of Home Affairs of Dong Thap province - said that the unit is focusing on implementing the work of supporting people who have completed their prison sentences to find stable jobs.
According to Mr. Vu, through actual surveys, after serving their sentences and returning to their localities, they often encounter 3 difficulties: limited access to official recruitment information in the digital environment; interrupted qualifications and experience, not meeting the requirements of businesses; feelings of inferiority and self-consciousness when contacting recruiters.
Faced with this reality, the Provincial Employment Service Center shifted from providing simple job information to consulting, capacity assessment and direct connection with businesses. The motto is defined as "Understand workers - understand businesses - connect to the right jobs", instead of introducing jobs when there are jobs. From the beginning of 2026 to now, the Center has brought services to the grassroots level through 4 job transaction sessions in Cao Lanh ward, Sa Dec ward, Gia Thuan commune and Lai Vung commune, attracting more than 300 workers to participate.
Through the transaction sessions, the needs of this labor group are quite diverse. Some people are skilled and want to return to work soon; others need to be trained and supplement vocational skills. Many cases prioritize finding jobs near home to facilitate stable life and family.
According to Mr. Vu, in the coming time, the Provincial Employment Service Center will continue to coordinate with communes, wards, the Police force, vocational education institutions and the Social Policy Bank to form a continuous support network.

Job connection is implemented in the direction of "Upon understanding needs - providing correct and complete information - connecting with the right profession - introducing the right job - supporting the right policies", thereby creating more opportunities for people who have served their prison sentences to have jobs, stabilize their income and gradually reintegrate into the community.
With a flexible and creative approach, in the first 9 months of 2026, the Dong Thap Employment Service Center has connected and created jobs for more than 30,000 workers.
