The visit takes place 4 months after the official visit to Vietnam by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and the two countries have much room to strengthen cooperation, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment and tourism.

Political trust continued to be strengthened through regular high-level exchanges and contacts, notably the State visit to Cambodia by General Secretary To Lam (now General Secretary and President) in February 2026 and the official visit to Vietnam by Prime Minister Hun Manet.

In the context of the world and regional situation being complex and unpredictable, maintaining a peaceful and stable environment and strengthening cooperation with neighboring countries, including Cambodia, is even more important. The focus of the visit is to promote the implementation of the agreements and commitments that senior Vietnamese leaders have agreed with senior Cambodian leaders in the past time.

According to the program of the visit, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and senior Cambodian leaders will exchange in-depth views on specific measures to promote cooperation, especially in practical areas suitable to the interests of each country.

Thereby, creating more motivation for economic, trade, investment and infrastructure connectivity, both hard and soft, so that economic cooperation has a stronger shift; soon reach a bilateral trade turnover of 20 billion USD as proposed by senior leaders of the two sides.

The visit will also promote cooperation in education and training, human resource development, science and technology and some new fields suitable to the development requirements of each country. People-to-people exchanges, especially between young generations, will also be strengthened.

The visit is also a practical preparation for the milestone of Vietnam and Cambodia celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations in 2027.
