Lao Cai promotes progress of industrial parks, creating jobs for 40,000 workers

Bảo Nguyên (báo lao động) 19/10/2026 16:19 (GMT+7)

Lao Cai - After completion and operation, 5 new industrial parks are expected to create jobs for about 35,000-40,000 workers.

On October 19, in Cam Duong ward, the Standing Committee of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee worked on the situation of deployment and removal of difficulties and obstacles for key industrial park and cluster projects in the area.

According to the report, in 2026, Lao Cai province approved the investment policy for 5 new industrial parks including Phu Xuan, Phu Xuan 1, Vo Lao, Cam Duong and Ban Qua, with a total area of more than 1,255 ha, total investment capital of nearly 14,000 billion VND.

When completed and put into operation, the industrial parks are expected to create jobs for about 35,000 - 40,000 workers, contributing to promoting industrial development, economic restructuring and creating more jobs and income for people.

However, the progress of some projects is still slow compared to requirements, in which site clearance is the biggest bottleneck. Phu Xuan and Phu Xuan 1 Industrial Parks have only officially handed over 4.3 hectares on a total area of 500 hectares.

Ban Qua Industrial Park has not yet deployed statistics and inventory; the remaining about 53 hectares of Cam Duong Industrial Park have also not carried out this work...

One of the main reasons is that the preparation of resettlement land funds, cemeteries and connecting infrastructure has not kept up with the land recovery progress.

In addition, the force performing compensation, support, and resettlement work in some localities is still thin; some projects have problems with investment procedures, planning, capital sources and plans to ensure the lives of affected people.

At the working session, Mr. Duong Quoc Huy - Secretary of the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee requested all levels, sectors, and localities to identify site clearance as a key and urgent task; the head must directly direct and be responsible for the results of implementation, striving to complete the tasks according to the assigned progress.

Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen coordination, administrative reform, and definitively resolve obstacles in procedures, not to let situations of avoidance and shirking responsibility occur, causing trouble for investors.

Along with that, improve the quality of investment attraction, strengthen inspection and supervision of project progress, link industrial development with environmental protection, create jobs and ensure the legitimate rights of the people.
