Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary encourages businesses to reward Tet early so that workers can shop

On the morning of October 18, the National Assembly discussed in groups the socio-economic development results in 2026, the 2027 plan, and the budget estimates and public investment.

Speaking at the group meeting, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang shared about the city's solutions in the last quarter of the year and development orientations for the coming time.

According to the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, this year, Ho Chi Minh City is assigned a growth target of 10.2% by the Government. After 9 months, the city grew by 9.06% compared to the same period in 2025. To achieve the target for the whole year, Ho Chi Minh City needs to grow by 13.23% in the last 3 months of the year.

Mr. Tran Luu Quang said that if Ho Chi Minh City does not achieve its goals, the goal of the whole nation will also be difficult. Because if Ho Chi Minh City loses 1% of growth, the remaining 33 provinces and cities need to increase by 0.25 points per locality to compensate for the shortage of this economic locomotive.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee said that what is more important is that the city must develop sustainably alongside the goal of double-digit growth. That is, this locality is "not fast-moving", not at all costs developing two-digit numbers.

Also according to Mr. Tran Luu Quang, this year, Ho Chi Minh City must collect about 90,000 billion VND from land auctions. However, city leaders have directed not to sell if the land is not priced well, leaving it for next year. The city also needs to prepare resources for 2027 and the following years.

Faced with the actual situation, the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City is cherishing resources, factors that contribute to creating double-digit growth. The city has also proposed solutions in the last months of the year.

To stimulate demand, Ho Chi Minh City will approach in different ways, using e-commerce and e-wallets so that consumers can pay in advance at the end of the year.

At the same time, the city also encourages businesses to give Tet bonuses in November and December so that workers can shop during the period when prices are more affordable than near the Lunar New Year.

Ho Chi Minh City also connects with other types of services to stimulate demand. Typically, the famous concert programs "Anh trai say hi" and "Anh trai vuot ngan chong gai".

In the near future, the city will also have more large entertainment programs that create a very good attraction. "I don't have specific statistics yet, but hotels and restaurants in Ben Thanh market are much more crowded" - Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary said.

Along with that is the reduction in commodity prices, large hotels in Ho Chi Minh City will also reduce room rates to attract tourists.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee also mentioned a number of other synchronous solutions such as disbursing public investment, disbursing investment of BT projects... Based on calculations, Ho Chi Minh City has a lot of potential and room to achieve this year's goals.
