Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union mobilizes businesses to reward Tet early
The Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) mobilizes businesses that have conditions to pay Tet bonuses or advance a part from November, December 2026 so that workers have funds to shop early at the end of the year.
Ensuring labor rights and supervising salary and bonus payments
Mr. Phung Thai Quang, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, informed that the content of early Tet bonus mobilization is part of the plan to supervise the implementation of salaries, bonuses and care for Tet Dinh Mui 2027 of the city's trade union organization. Grassroots trade unions are required to proactively work with businesses, grasp the production and business situation and jobs to propose appropriate care plans.
Units mobilize businesses to announce Tet bonus plans early, especially the bonus level and payment time. Places with conditions are encouraged to pay bonuses or partially advance from November or December 2026. The general Tet bonus plan at businesses needs to be made public before November 30; in case the bonus level has not been finalized, businesses need to announce the progress and specific time.
In previous years, businesses often announced Tet bonuses from the end of November to December and paid in January of the following year, causing workers to flock to shop and travel near Tet when prices increase and train and bus tickets are scarce.
In the context of Ho Chi Minh City seeking solutions to stimulate consumer demand at the end of the year, at the group discussion session of the National Assembly on the morning of October 18, Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang encouraged businesses to give Tet bonuses from November and December so that workers can actively shop, and at the same time promote purchasing power in the market.
Mr. Phung Thai Quang shared that Tet bonuses are implemented in many forms, often called "13th month salary" or productivity bonuses, the payment is based on the content of agreements, regulations and legal commitments of enterprises. Grassroots trade unions participate in giving opinions, negotiating bonus levels and publicizing, but it is necessary to assess the payment capacity of each unit.
In addition, the trade union organization reviews workers who are owed salaries, lose jobs, are in difficult circumstances and businesses that are late in paying salaries, and are at risk of ceasing operations to have timely support solutions.
The Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation also requests trade unions at all levels to supervise the full and timely payment of salaries; overtime salaries, night shifts, holidays, Tet and implement the minimum wage according to regulations. Businesses are requested to notify the Tet holiday schedule, return to work days, production plans and regimes for employees working during this occasion.
