Some businesses give employees 4 days off on Vietnam Culture Day
Some businesses in Hanoi plan to arrange for employees to take 4 consecutive days off on Vietnam Culture Day 2026, from November 21st to the end of November 24th.
Recently, the Government Office issued a document conveying the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra on the fact that cadres, civil servants, and public employees are entitled to a 1-day Vietnam Culture Day holiday, on November 24, 2020.
The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Minister of Home Affairs to notify administrative agencies, public service units, political organizations, socio-political organizations, businesses and employees according to regulations.
The Ministry of Home Affairs encourages employers to apply Vietnam Culture Day 2026 holiday for employees as a plan for civil servants and public employees, while ensuring full implementation of regimes according to regulations. The Ministry also proposed that businesses have more beneficial agreements for employees.
Regarding this day, Ms. Pham Thi Bich Hai - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of TOTO Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Hanoi), said that the company often exchanges with the trade union early to arrange holiday schedules for union members and employees. The business's point of view is to arrange more holidays than the provisions of law, not waiting until the Government decides to agree on the plan.
According to Ms. Hai, in 2026, employees at the company will have 4 consecutive days off on Vietnam Culture Day, from November 21st to the end of November 24th.
Regarding the 2027 holiday schedule, Ms. Hai said that the company will continue to discuss with the trade union and is expected to finalize the plan until November 2026.

Similarly, Mr. Tran Ngoc Tuan - Chairman of the Trade Union of Sumitomo Heavy Industries Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Hanoi), said that the enterprise plans to arrange a 4-day consecutive Vietnam Culture Day holiday, from November 21 to the end of November 24.
According to Mr. Tuan, this holiday schedule helps union members and workers have the conditions to return to their hometowns and travel. However, a part of workers still have to be on duty and work according to plan because the business is in the peak production period.
In addition, the trade union is exchanging with the company to organize a trade union meal for employees after the holiday, expected on November 25.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, former Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Employment (Ministry of Home Affairs) Le Quang Trung said that having more days off helps workers have time to rest, regenerate labor, and at the same time increase the connection between family members and society. However, businesses need to develop appropriate leave plans so as not to affect production and business activities.
Mr. Trung said that, in terms of labor productivity, having one more day off creates conditions for workers to recover their working capacity, thereby being able to work more effectively after the holiday.
According to him, employers should recognize the cost of paying salary for one day of leave in the short term, and consider the long-term benefits when workers are regenerated labor and improve work efficiency.
Assessing the meaning of the holiday on Vietnam Culture Day on November 24, 26, Mr. Trung said that this is a humane policy, showing the concern of the Party and State for workers in particular and the cultural sector in general.
Notably, this is the first time there is a holiday dedicated to cultural issues, creating conditions for workers to connect with their families, society and participate in cultural activities.
